Can you bring back the "Show Purchasable Items" button please? My group keeps things very very close to pure Rules-as-Written, so seeing exactly what a character can afford based on actual book prices was really handy...
Seconded.

Okie dokie. I'll put it back
Not sure if its just me, but when I use the GM tools, and make an adversary, there is a spot on the description tab for category, what is supposed to go there? When I click the drop down it pops up blank.
Amazing program thanks for the hard work.
Edited by ArkitanI'd love to be able to edit the various pictures from within the editor itself (species, weapons, etc), and not have to replace the png/jpg files directly in the folders. Potentially with a built-in resizer.
Actually, while I'm at it... what are the max dimensions for the various pics (sorry if this has been asked before)? For example, how big can a species' picture be? What about the weapons?

It's blank because you haven't imported any adversaries yet. Category was originally for the different types of adversaries in the CRB, such as "Galactic Underworld", "Spaceport Personnel", etc. I later used it to mention the book the adversary can be found in ("Beyond the Rim", for example). Anything can go in there, really. It just depends on how you want to organize your adversaries. If it's blank, or you want to add a category that's not there, just type something in It's an editable combobox, so it'll accept typed text as well as the dropdown list. The new category will then show up as a category choice when you add your next adversary.

Yeah, that's something I've mulled around with, too. Just not quite sure how I want to go about it.
Images are discussed starting on page 29 of the current docs. For equipment images, there's a file included with the generator called "BlankGearPanel.png". That's the standard background I use for all my images, and is the proper size. If you want to create new gear images, just paste your properly sized image into this file and save it as a PNG file to Data/EquipmentImages using the equipment type (Armor, Gear, Weapon) followed by the item's key as a file name.
Species pictures are rather small and should be no more than 125x125 pixels in size, although it doesn't have to be square. Vehicle images can any size, but must be square. Vehicle silhouettes should be 500x500, and should be transparent except for the actual silhouette. The colors and technique I use for them is described in the documentation.
The hardest part of adding vehicle images is actually finding them on the internet Some of them are FFG-specific, so I just had to make due with what I found. Others I found only as drawings or plans. The picture for the A-36 Pathfinder, for example, was based on a B&W line drawing from Wookiepedia, I had to clean it up, colorize it with gradients, run it through some filters so it didn't look so cartoony, and stick it on a cool space background. The Xanter class frigate I just couldn't find anywhere, which is why I think it's the only vehicle to use the default image and silhouette.
Also, it can be difficult finding a top-down view of some of these vehicles to make the silhouette, so you sometimes have to be resourceful. Some I had to do completely by hand, others I based on existing silhouettes and made some changes. Some I found images that were kinda-sorta top down, but not really, so I had to cheat and split them down the middle and do a mirror image to make them look right. I've spent countless hours doing the vehicle images and silhouettes.
Oh, and I use GIMP for all the graphics work for the apps.

Huzzah! You're the best dev ever!
Feature request: Can you add an export-to-PDF option? Or export-as-image options for the character sheets? I like to play in a lot of PbP games, so a hardcopy sheet isn't needed, but raw XML isn't useful either.
Can you add "print to PDF" as an option? I play in an online game and it would be useful to be able to send PDFs to my players.

This would be great, its a fantastic app, and honestly this is the only thing I can think of that its missing.
I crawled back a bit and didn't see this mentioned, but I found a bug. When I create an encounter, whenever I add UNDER A BLACK SUN adversaries, I can save the encounter and print it fine. But, the moment I click "modify" on the encounter, all the adversaries in the encounter have been replaced with other core book adversaries and I have to remove them and readd the ones I want.
This issue seems to only occur if I use UNDER A BLACK SUN adversaries.

Read the FAQ and do a search for "PDF". Basically, all you need to do is install a PDF printer driver and "print" to a PDF file. The FAQ has the URL for the one I use for this (DoPDF).

Did you perform an Import on the adversaries, or did you just copy them into the Adversaries directory (he asks, knowing the answer)? Always use Import when importing adversaries, characters, or stock vehicles. If you don't, weird things like that can happen.
Anndddddd you're right. lol Thanks!

You're not the first to do that Incidentally, you can select multiple files when you do an Import, so you can grab a bunch of adversaries at once. That was one of the new features I added for 1.1.

Not sure if it could be useful, but the program Magic Set Editor has a nice way of letting you cropping, resizing and whatever whenever you import a picture. You might be able to figure out how it is done in their program (or at the very least get an idea of how to handle it).
I found what appears to be a bug. I have starting Obligation size set to 5, and a character who has taken a 10 point and a 5 point Obligation, 10 points over the starting point. However I cannot select the checkboxes for the +10 starting obligation stuff, only the +5s.
EDIT: I played with it a little more; I can't get it to let me select the +10 Starting Obligation options if the starting value is set to 5 at all, even if I set both of the character's Obligations to 50 each.

Page 40 of the CRB: "Player Characters cannot gain more additional Obligation than their original starting value." In other words, if your starting size is set to 5, you can only benefit from an additional 5 Obligation (10 total). That means you can't take the two 10 obligation options no matter what. If you want one of those two options, your starting size has to be at least 10 and you would need to take at minimum another 10 obligation (20 total).
There's a long explanation about this in the FAQ Look for "I can't figure out how obligation and duty options are supposed to work."
Hrm...whoops, I guess I missed that bit. Alright, well, at least there's a reason for it, haha!
I've been having an issue with vehicle mods.
I put Armor on a Speeder Bike but it only used one Hard Point which appears to be incorrect. Oddly Shields using two HP is correct.
I'm curious about group gear and such. It would be nice if the 'group' sheet pulled vehicles and gear up for each character. As a GM pulling all this together in a few number intense sheets makes my life easier since I can figure out what my characters are have and can do. If possible very basic combat skill breakdown would be useful.

Actually, I had missed it as well until I started explaining how it worked to someone. Then I noticed it and realized I hadn't done it right It was fixed in the last release.

You are correct, sir. Armor attachment should cost 2 HPs. That'll be fixed in the next release.
Interesting idea, having a gear summary for each character on the group sheet. How would you want that presented, individually or combined?

Now that would be complicated question now wouldn't it.
Vehicles should be dead simple, and I think required. Just toss them on the vehicle list with a simple description and the owner's name. Possibly go with the full description as well.
I think combat abilities should be on the simple character stat list. (Weapon and dice rolled.) Mostly this is useful because in the heat of combat its hard to look up and track stuff.
General gear is much more complicated question. As a programmer I'm fond of dumping the decision on the user. How about an optional field in the gear to put it on the group equipment list?
Is there a way to add a notes section to an encounter so I can have ideas for triumph and despair ahead of time as well as more detailed descriptions of the area?

Note panels show up whenever there's space at the bottom of a page. For your needs, use the Information text box on the Description pane. It'll show up at the top of each page.
