There’s the “Edit Description” box that allows you to edit the description. (The English minor in me hates my using the term to define the term just now. 🤣 ) and there’s the preview window below it that shows how it will appear. If I had a quarter for every time I’ve tried clicking in the preview window to edit the description....

Don’t forget to click “save” when you’re done with all of your editing, or it won’t stick. You can do it after each entry, periodically throughout an editing session, or at the end of your editing before closing the Data Editor.

@OggDude I found your soft awesome, and i translate all my Dataset in French (i build a small python script to scrap and trad all your Xml)

I'm a linux user, so i have to boot on windows only for using it. Would you like to open your source code for a possible rewritte/ rebuild for linux ?

Just to prepare you, though, others have suggested/asked that he open the code in the past, and his response has been that he prefers not to. The project started as a way for him to learn to code, and so he is up front in saying that there’s some really sloppy code in there, especially at the foundation, when he was still learning the basics and sometimes just used brute force to get his desired result. Because of this, he’s concerned that having more cooks in the kitchen would likely result in some of that code getting “fixed” leading to a domino effect within the software.

Now, it still never hurts to ask, because if you don’t, the answer is always, “No.” who knows...he may have changed his mind since then. 😁

Hello. I've been using this app for years and it is a great character generator. Wish all games had something just as good and free.

I'm not sure if this is a bug that just recently reared itself or if I'm doing something wrong with my character, but, after each session the GM gives us XP. I award it to my character and I immediately spend it, taking it down to 0. I then save it and close out the program. But, the next week when I boot up the program and load in my character, it is showing that I have -10 unused xp. This has been happening since the creation of this character months ago. I think that because of this, I'm not getting xp added to my character, as the next week's awarded xp is reduced by 10 and the next by 10 and so on. Has anybody else experienced this and if so, what can I do to fix it?? Thank you.

The V-19 Torrent Starfighter has the wrong weapon listed in the gm tools

As Savage spirits it should be Two forward mounted laser cannons (Arc:F, Dam 6, Crit 3, Range Close, Linked 1)

but it is using the personal scale laser cannon from Assault at Arda 1 Page 54

(2) Forward-Mounted Twin Laser Cannon ( Fire Arc : Forward; Damage : 9; Critical : 3 ; Range : Extreme; Qualities : Inaccurate 1, Linked 1)

I only noticed it as it has extreme range and wasn't aware that any ship weapons had that range

If you didn't clear the cache perhaps it's possible to retrieve it from there.

I'm in kind of a blind panic. I clicked Reset in the Data Editor thinking it would undo the changes I had been making to a specific item, but now it appears literally everything I changed for every item has returned to the default (refer to book/page) description. Can I recover anything? I've put literal months of work into this and now it appears to all be gone.

(EDIT: I haven't cleared the cache. I haven't even closed the app. I'm too scared to permanently lose something if it can be recovered somehow.)

Unfortunately this isn't working, otherwise I wouldn't be asking the question. The problem is, is that it's not even recognizing there is even a file to use.

I believe that the Dataset is supposed to be left Zipped for it to be imported.

If you did that, then it might be that you need to start with a fresh install of the main program first.

The install is fresh and the zip does not seem to be recognized either. Are there different kinds of zip files.

I don't think so. I'm not sure what would cause that, unless the zip is corrupt. But if Oggdude's isn't even "seeing" the zip, then something else is going on...

Hopefully someone with more tech savvy can give you more help!

I've found out the problem. the problem is the file pathway isn't exactly obvious but can be found with Oggdude's launcher. Now I have to figure out how to do this all on Amazon Workspace Services so that it will all work on my iPad and so that my players and current GM (we take turns so nobody get's bored) can all have access to it. Does any body have experience with the workspace services?

I know from personal experience that running the app on several devices with the same data over my one drive works great.

I don't have experience with workspace services, but if there is a way to set the Data Path from the Launcher to one location that is the same for everyone there should be no problem. In the launcher: More Options -> Data Path -> Select Your Own Data Location

I have found the folder structure of some zipped datasets is not named correctly. Find the correct folder name scheme, unzip then rename and rezip.

Oggdude's program is very specific on the file names for importing files.

The *.zip file has to be named "SWDataSet-(NAME).zip" and first folder inside has to be "Dataset_(NAME)".

If the *.zip does not match this exact naming convention, then the program will not recognize the zip file and will fail to import it.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: Avoid using windows 10 when zipping the files outside of the program. Recommend 7-zip or a comparable program. Just not Win10.

@AndAlsoWithYou I don't know of a way to retrieve it, but in the future, I strongly suggest exporting backups of your custom data.
