Another Character Generator

Thanks. There's the workaround for the weapons. Now if I can just figure out what the software has against my custom vehicles. It's ignored random ships here and there for quite a while now, but never at this large a scale.

This was weird. It was working fine and I didn't do anything to the form, and it suddenly did this. Easy fix, but I have no idea what caused it.

Yeah I think I'm just gonna live with this until someone somewhere makes a better data set that they totally didn't share with anyone.

Now I just need to figure out why I can't get the three Collapse specs to show up under the clone career...every time I open the Career and check the ARC/Veteran/Commando specs and close it...it just reverts and I can't figure out why

E: I'm starting to think this is just broken, like when weapon qualities weren't saving for a version or so back in the day

I've had problems with various datasets that I've downloaded as well. I try to make things play nicely together, but you just never know what you're going to get with those things. 95% of them generally work well, and I'm amazed at how long it must have taken these people to enter in all the descriptions 🙂

Yeah, and i've been importing forward my dataset for a couple years now, so who knows what errors have crept in just from outdated files and whatnot.

Yeah. I generally have one data set but anything I add in has the 'CUST' prefix in the key so when the official version comes out it doesn't take so long to copy over any descriptions and delete my added versions. Do this whenever an update comes out.

The only ballache it causes is when my players are utilising any of the items I added in. So I basically go in, add the 'official' version and then delete the older one.

Exactly what I do, except my prefix is an abbreviation of the source. (Ex: Rise of the Separatists abbreviated ROS.)

I can't find Collapse anywhere.

If you need, I can scan and send you PDF

To 2nd, 3rd, 4th all the others who've said it, "Thank you for all the work you put into Software."

I bought the AoR Core Rules & starter set because of your software.

Possible Data error?
I'm guessing Rotary Repeating Blaster Cannon & Laser Canon should be explicitly Personal Scale . They're both from "Please see page 54 of the Onslaught at Arda I Adventure Module for details." and they're both unspecified for scale.

My son & I play together, very loosely following the rules (he's 7 and doesn't have the patience yet for the intro scenario)

My previous drop ship (speed 3 ) had insufficient survivability (don't get blown up till we can get into hyperspace. don't get blown up until we...) so for a mission back to Hoth I upgrade a HWK 1000 light freighter to be speed 6 (and cloaking & sensor shunt) to be able to insert and extract my squad of lego mercenaries to get away from his personal Star Destroyer, Interdictor cruiser and ever increasing swarm of fighters.

He promptly asked for a new fighter, found something speed 6 (Mandalorian Fang Fighter) and added the Rotary Repeating Blaster Cannon (damage 15).

I had to look into this as an act of self preservation for my poor crew. I lose most of the time, but I at least want a fighting chance.

So please, someone tell me this weapon is personal scale.

Ed

So if I'm not mistaken, we're missing:

Collapse of the Republic (in progress)

Dawn of Rebellion

Allies and Aversaries

Gadgets and Gear

Starships and Speeders

Is that correct?

yes

Does anyone have any links for homebrew material? I'm looking to direct download things from the Old Republic era.

I would prefer if I didn't have to manually enter the data into the tools.

It is, but at least with those last three there's not a whole lot of actually new material for OggDude to add, as those books are mostly compilations/reprints of material published in prior sourcebooks.

Yep, from what I recall, there are 4 new races in each of the next two books, 2 new careers in Collapse, a few new career-specific Specializations in Collapse, then a whole bunch Universal Specializations in each of the next two books. I'm sure there is new gear in all of the books, as well, but those are the biggies.

For integrated attachments, they're considered "built-in" and, therefore, the price is supposed to reflect the inclusion of the attachment. This makes sense for crafted items as well, but you may want to ask a dev question about it to be sure. If they say yes, I can add the attachment price to the final price of the item.

All you need to do to add anything to a companion droid is to modify him and do whatever you want. They're just adversaries and can be modified to your heart's content after being added as a companion.

If you buy an attachment and put it in a weapon or armor, the value of the item is increased by the attachment. If you sell it without removing the attachment, you get more for it. By extension, if you build an item with an attachment built in, it should logically increase the value of the item.

In my mind, because it is integrated and can't be removed, it would also increase the cost of repairing that item should it become damaged. that is not easily calculated if the item doesn't reflect it's increased value.

If you go in and modify a companion droid and give it armor or an armor implant cybernetic enhancement, neither increase it's soak or defense.

Since FFG is restructuring their RPGs, I figured it might delay Dev questions from being answered. So, I just included the cost of integral attachments of crafted items into the final price in the last release. Improvements that affect the final price only affect the base price, however, not the amount added due to integral attachments.

And I just created a crafted droid, then modified it by adding combat armor to it. Its soak value went up by 2. You can get the same effect by going to Attributes and just upping the Soak value, adding custom armor, or adding an item that increases soak. As I said, they're just adversaries. You can make any changes you want to them.

hey ogg; what am i missing trying to the my manually added Collapse specs to attach to the Clone career? Its refusing to save, regarless of if I use the built-in Clone career or my manually created one

You're using the data editor to modify the career, right? If so, your problem is more than likely that you have multiple datasets with changes to that career. When this happens, one might overwrite the changes of another. Also, if you made your change in the default custom data, and also have changes in a dataset, the dataset will take precedence, since datasets are applied after the default custom data.

Since people are discussing data sets, I thought I would do a shameless plug.

I help manage an open source data set. Will be two years come Aug.

It is communitee driven/supported where members at any time can update any part of the data set. Crowd source maintanence.

Link is in my profile bio.

Three hours to game time and have a couple questions about it.

1. Have any of the recent books (Dawn of Rebelllion, Rise of the Separatists, etc.) been ported over to the program? If so, where do I get those?

2. Having difficulty looking up two things: Force Dice and Universal Talents. How/where in the chargen do I find those?

Pretend my game's in an hour and I don't have time to scroll through 439 pages.

I'm looking at the Soresu Defender right now and don't see a spot for Force Dice.

I'm not following what you're looking for here, either. Specialization trees (whether in the books or in the software) generally don't have a "spot for Force dice."

My player made a Soresu Defender with OggDude's character generator and I'm not even seeing a spot where one would add Force Dice to the character or where they might be in the program.

Starting with a Force and Destiny career automatically gives you a Force Rating of 1. XP is not spent directly on increasing Force Rating, but it's done through the buying the Force Rating talent found on most Force-related specialization trees. I say "most" because Soresu Defender is one of the trees that does not include this talent.

Thanks. I also saw a tree for Universal Talents but don't know how to bring that up in the chargen either.

Also not sure what you mean by "Universal Talents."

There are (now) quite a few Universal specializations, most of which have been added through the Era books. So far, Ogg has only had the opportunity to add one of the Era books (Rise of the Separatists), which was added in the most recent release, posted Saturday. To purchase a Universal spec, from the Specializations tab, click "Purchase," then click the radio button for "Show Universal Specializations."
