Another Character Generator

By OggDude, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Another vote for Collapse here, but I'm just grateful this is still being updated at all to be honest! This must take a mind-boggling amount of work, and it's appreciated.

How do I make words show up as bold type in the data editor?

Also my vote is for Collapse!

[ B ] starts bold, [ b ] ends bold. Click the help button to open up a help panel on the right of the data editor.

I guess I've been overruled. Collapse it is!

I am just starting my Clone Wars campaign 🙂

Plus the completionist in everyone wants to have all the Clone Wars data available. 😁

Going in to re-add the Death Stars, Vehicle-Only weapons don't populate when selecting "New" to add weapons. After clearing cache and a close and reopen of the Data Editor, regardless of the source selected, custom vehicles that don't start with A or B don't display in the Data Editor, despite the xml files still being in the DataCustom folder. I have no additional data sets present.

I'm having this too. Click the option to filter ranged heavy or gunnery weapons and then switch back, should repopulate the list.

@OggDude bug for ya.

Thanks. There's the workaround for the weapons. Now if I can just figure out what the software has against my custom vehicles. It's ignored random ships here and there for quite a while now, but never at this large a scale.

Just noticed another cap that will need to be upped in the next update: the one for the Massive quality. It caps at 5, and the Death Stars are at 8.

Well... I'm thinking Dawn, since it came out before Collapse. One of the two. Any preference?

Since you have the first half of The Clone Wars era added with Rise of the Seperatists, my vote is for Collapse of the Republic to complete it. Also there are three new PC races (Jawa, Lasat and Sandpeople) in the Allies and Adversaries book that I'd like to see added in the next update as well.

Four: Ewok’s in there, too.

Using the workaround, it appears that editing any of the weapons loads after entering them causes an exception error.

Yeah, you have to do the workaround and select the weapon again. Annoying, but it works.

Yep...just noting it for Ogg's benefit.

Having a bit of an issue - I had created my own data for Rise before this update came out, and so I've been copying over my descriptions from my added versions over onto the officially implemented ones...but then I can't delete, for example, my added Talents because they're linked to my custom added Specs, and I can't delete my custom specs because they're linked to my custom careers...but I don't actually have my custom careers showing up - some of the offical implementations seemed to have merged with my handmade ones (I guess I used identical names/keys?). Is there an easy fix to this?

I went through this earlier today, myself.

Go into the "official" careers and disassociate the custom specs. Then, you can remove your custom specs. (FYI, there are 4 new talents from Rise that are used in specs from Collapse, as well. You won't be able to remove those talents until you modify the Collapse specs to point to the "official" talents.) You may find it helpful to rename your version of the specs/talents to make them easier to differentiate as you make these changes.

Example:

  • Rename the "Knight" spec "ROSKnight"
  • Go into the Jedi career, associate the (new) Knight spec and disassociate the ROSKnight spec.
  • Remove your version of the Knight spec.
  • Rename Clanker Killer "ROSClanker Killer."
  • Go into the specs that use Clanker Killer and switch it from ROSClanker Killer to Clanker Killer.
  • Remove your version of the talent. (If it's still being used in a spec, you'll get a message that you can't remove it because it's being used in [insert spec name here].)

Oof, that sounds like a bear to do for all of the stuff I added @_@ Thanks for the tips

EDIT...huh, I changed Clone Pilot to ROSClone Pilot...but there's no "official" clone pilot spec to link it to

You probably used the same item key word as Ogg.

It’s really not that bad, and only has to be done for those few things that are linked in a way that prevents deletion. Even then, it doesn’t really have to be done...I’ve just found it easier to tell the “official” one from mine, since the item key isn’t visible.

Yeah I think I'm just gonna live with this until someone somewhere makes a better data set that they totally didn't share with anyone.

Now I just need to figure out why I can't get the three Collapse specs to show up under the clone career...every time I open the Career and check the ARC/Veteran/Commando specs and close it...it just reverts and I can't figure out why

E: I'm starting to think this is just broken, like when weapon qualities weren't saving for a version or so back in the day
