Another Character Generator

Has anyone tried to add the 30xp get a +1 force rating option? I tried to do it as a reward like a scar, but it caused an error.

I tried to add as reward and couldn't get it to work so I added a new Force power that cost 30xp and added a gear item that increases Force Rating by 1 with an encumbrance of 0.

I seem to be having a problem getting the character generator tool to launch, the program appears in the taskbar but never loads. When hovering over the icon in the taskbar I see only a white blank page.

Episode 126 of order 66, guest dev confirmed quick path to power only applies to characters starting jedi knight or jedi general.

Whenever I go to print it just freezes and never sends it to the printer, any ideas?

first thing to try is clearing the cache

Any news on when the next update will be my friend??

Quick question for everyone = how do you add custom species (or other custom content) to the folders? Player had a specific deep lore species request, and I was hoping I could still use this app without having to do the whole thing by paper.

edit - somehow didn't notice the content creator option in the launcher. my bad.

Does anybody know if there is a way to "Print to PDF" for a particular bit of gear created?
I like to have handouts for my players when they find a new cool piece of gear.

Thanks

Not directly, but you can save a stat block as an image and paste it into a Word (or other) document, then print it.

Oh how do I make the stat block?

There is a quite big button with the same name under the "Repair-Bar" of the equipment tab (there is also one for vehicles in the vehicles tab, right above the crafting button). In the new Window you choose "save" and implement this file as a picture in a Word-Document for example.

Got it, I was looking in the Data Editor. Thanks guys!

Hey Oggdude! Absolutely love your program but I had a question. I noticed within the Data Editor you can edit bases, but I see no options to edit Fortifications. The reason I'm asking is right now for me it's written to be an Average Difficulty when it's supposed to be hard, and I'd like to change that. Is there a place I haven't checked to edit the files for fortifications? Any info would be great, thank you for making such an incredible program!

Fortifications are technically Crafted Items, and there's no way to edit options on Crafted Items without directly editing the code. Not yet, anyway.

Ah ok, thank you! Hopefully in the future it gets added!

We know. Oggdude is super busy. So he updates in spurts.

That's also why it's so cool that he added a way for us to add them while waiting for his official updates. It's very easy to add the new trees. Just be sure to add them to their own dataset that you can turn off once he adds them officially or you will start seeing duplicates.

I just added them as things like UsertalentXY in the <default> data set, adding the relevant new sourcebook name and page number. Should I have used the "User Data" source instead of the actual sourcebook name?

And what happens when the next update comes? I'm still a noob with this ...

@Bellona There's no right or wrong way but what I have found if I don't use a custom dataset when adding things and just drop them into an existing one, once OggDude releases an update that includes them, you can get duplicates. Now it's pretty easy to look for where you put it and just remove your entries but I have found it easier to enter the personal stuff in individual datasets named after the books then I just have to remove those when an update is released

Another question: will Oggdude's next update overwrite the detailed descriptions that I've entered for the pre-existing talents? (E.g., Parry, Reflect, Grit, Surgeon.) I have the latest web install version, and only started entering the descriptions after the most recent version.

And what about custom variant trees which I've "attributed" to those sourcebooks in which the original tree is found (mainly for the sake of comparisons)? Will they vanish with the next update?

All of that should* be fine, as that information is stored in your DataCustom folder as (for want of a better term) amended information that takes precedence over his “default” information.

*”Should” takes into account that sometimes software can be tricky.

Has anyone heard from oggdude lately on a future update?

Here’s hoping when it does come it allows us to edit data for crafting and fortifications! And maybe many more awesome features!

Last time he visited these forums was November 15th. So it seems that he's probably busy with real-world obligations.
