If you're referring to the alternative Mentor benefits as discussed in Disciples of Harmony, that does not yet exist as an option, as the chargen is locked into the core rulebook's binary method of having a Mentor gives you a 5XP discount on basic Force powers.

If you're referring to how to make a character part of the Findsman tradition, see micheldebruyn's post above for some good suggestions.

Question. Putting in Rise of the Seps and Collapse of the Republic into the generator myself until it gets updated to that point. The Jedi tree gives 1 FR by default, but the Knight tree requires 2 FR as a prerequisite to get into it. I made both the career and the specialization for Jedi and Knight, but can't seem to figure out a way to get it so that Knight won't show up without having a FR of 2.

As a kludge, couldn't you give the talents in the first row FR 2 as prerequisite? It doesn't make the career FR2, but it works out the same in practice.

Right now, there isn't one as prior to Dawn of Rebellion (Retired Clone Trooper universal spec) there was never any sort of "you must be this high to ride" style of restrictions on acquiring specializations. I suspect adding a means to include such restrictions on specs, such as needing a specific Force Rating or being of a particular species, are something that OggDude is working on when he's able as part of a future update that includes the data from Dawn of Rebellion, Rise of the Separatists, and Collapse of the Republic.

For now, if you're the GM you'll just have to trust your players to remember that they can't buy into Knight or General until they have Force Rating 2, or buy into Master if they don't have Force Rating 3.

Yep and to be honest I wouldn't let a character be a Jedi knight at 2 force Rating, way to low 'd make it probably 3 no more than 4. Jedi Master should be at least Force Rating 6 minimum. I know that is what my GM and our group have all agreed on.

Otherwise it's ridiculous...the 3 classes combined our unbelievable. My character is currently Force Rating 3 and has over 2000xp its been a long running campaign and I have a combination of Force and Rebellion classes, which do make me very hard but am no master. We also operate a table rule where to pick up an age of rebellion specialization we had to get recruit first, likewise to go from force to edge of empire we had to get Force exile. One of our party members started as a gambler and of course he had to then get force emergent before going for a force specialization. It has really worked well and our characters are all well developed. Also stopped some power gaming of insane character specialization combo's.

If when @OggDude adds in the 2 books I'd hope he makes that prerequisite for force rating bit adjustable via data editor or GM grants as that would be real useful. The character generator has been a godsend for our group as we have a number of people that play via skype due to real life. Myself and the GM being the book collectors are the ones that maintain the character sheets. Only thing that we would both love is a record section for experience and money awarded to characters as well as what it is spent on. But I know that is probably a lot of work, I manually keep a check but sometimes forget.

I'm not the GM in this instance, I'm a player, and going to be specking into Knight. I was more curious about it because I tend to forget you need the 2 FR to spec into it. And the 2 FR is plenty high enough for the Knight for our group. Our GM is also making characters that take the Jedi career start out as a Padawan, and then not allowing us to spec into Knight until we do enough in game that it could be said we did the equivalent amount of risk and work as the Trials, or actually go through the Trials themselves. Also 2 FR is plenty high enough for a Knight. There's plenty of instances in canon and the EU where knights weren't all that powerful with the Force, but were excellent lightsaber duelists, or investigators, or some other such thing that made up for their lack of strength and skill with the Force itself. And considering you're not realistically meant to go above FR like 5, it fits. And when I say that you're not realistically meant to go above FR 5, I mean that the game designers have the trees spread out enough that they figured it would take you forever to spec enough to get that high a FR, so if you did so, you were obviously on par with those like Yoda of Kenobi, who were above and beyond the average master's strength level.

Requiring FR 6 to be considered a master is absolutely absurd to me, in any context.

I think you focus far far too much on force rating. When if you have a 2 force rating and you spend a decent amount on force powers you can do a lot with 2 to 3 and a maxnof 4 pips. You are guaranteed 2 pips and likely will have 3.

True, but how many of those will reliably be Light Side pips? For those of us who are not willing to rack up Conflict or go Dark Side/Sith, we need more Force dice for better chances of getting those necessary LS pips. And not all Force powers use just one LS pip.

Either way, this isn't the right thread for this discussion. If someone really cares they can start a dedicated thread instead of us cluttering up this one.

6 force dice pretty much guarantee that you'll get at least 2 white pips and I think it makes 4 white pips the most likely result if I recall correctly. So yeah there's a use case for it ( reliable force powers). Kind of like solar power... cheapest way to reliable solar is to overbuilding solar and take the excess offline when you don't need it (that way you don't need much in the way of batteries)

While I'm barely a beginner at reading code, I did just recently import in a bunch of Adversaries, but, this was coming up before I did that. Any thoughts?

Are the Adversaries you imported from a different/older version of the character generator? I've had trouble with that before when copying adversaries made on my laptop to my PC and not realising my two machines were using different versions of the tool.

Not that I'm aware, but, I've had the error pop up before even importing them. But, I can delete them and see if the error message is any different.

I have the same problem Talley Darkstar has, no idea why and I gave up trying to figure it out.

I do love the program regardless.

Although I've got everything else entered into OggDude's from Gadgets and Gear, I sat down tonight to finally enter in Lando's capes and Leia's gowns. (A session back in one of the campaigns, our GM gave me one of Lando's capes, so it was finally time to enter them all.) All was well and good, until I got to Lando's last cape. The first five, I entered as gear...but that last one increases soak and reduces crit, making it more appropriate as armor. So, my question...does it make more sense to enter them all as armor, or five as gear and one as armor?

Gear doesn't allow for adding the soak and crit reduction (that I saw, anyway...soak, at the very least is definitely not an option for gear). Then, by splitting them up, they'd be in different equipment tabs, so searching for some would show up under "gear," with at least one showing up under "armor."

Maybe make a placeholder item that says to look in armor and a place holder armor that says to look in gear. takes more space but that way you can have complete sets in both locations...

Has anyone tried to add the 30xp get a +1 force rating option? I tried to do it as a reward like a scar, but it caused an error.
