Naw, they are still there. Go to your username\appdata\roaming\SWCharGen

"This folder is empty"
Hmmm
Where was the folder you deleted it from? Sounds like you had an odd install...
Also, if you manually deleted the folder, check the system trashcan and see if they are there.
Out of curiosity, has anyone got a ready-made dataset for Knights of Fate yet that they'd be willing to share? I'm currently creating a Seyugi Dervish for my buddy's darksider campaign he's starting, and Steel Hand Adept works a lot better than Martial Artist for that (though I'm going to end up with both, of course. Crit 1 on barehanded brawl attacks? Thank you!).
Hey, OggDude, question.
Doesn't have to be right away, but can you give us the ability to make/modify Crafting Templates? Some of FFG's templates need work, and I'm sure people have extra ideas for stuff they'd want to craft.

If you don't mind digging around some and/or are reasonably fluent in XML -- search for CraftTemplates.xml and CraftImprovements.xml. Should get ya started.
Does anyone have a dummies guide for keeping a shared data folder online? Like through dropbox or gdrive?

I know it is a bit far back but there is this: https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/89135-another-character-generator/?do=findComment&comment=2697584 and in the FAQ question 2.3

Copied from the documentation pdf:
2.5 Question: Is there a way to share data between different installations of the software on different computers? Answer: Yes. Using a cloud storage system, such as DropBox or Google Drive, you can have all of your players share the same data from as many installations as you want. Read this question, above, for instructions on how to do this. You can also use a similar technique for sharing data within a LAN. Just create a shared folder and give everyone permission to use it. Then everyone can use it as the data folder.
And:
2.3 Question: I want to use cloud storage, such as DropBox or Google Drive, to have a central repository for my data, and I want my players to be able to access it. Can this be done? Answer: Yes. In fact, versions after 1.1.2.0 will automatically refresh and synchronize data found on cloud storage, or even on a network share. Page 5To centralize your data, you’ll need to create some sort of a shared directory on your hard drive or network. If you’re using a cloud storage system, you’ll need to download and install their software in order to get a local sync folder on your hard drive. Both DropBox and Google Drive have software that will do this. The sync folder is more than likely off of your user directory, but it can vary with the cloud service you’re using. For DropBox, the sync folder defaults to “C:\Users\<login name>\DropBox”, for example. If you use a cloud service, you’ll also need to create a folder on the cloud, and then give your players access to the folder. They will also need to install whatever software they need to access the folder on their local system. Instructions for giving other people access to your folder should be found somewhere on your cloud service’s website. If you want to use a network share, create the share and make sure that the login accounts for all of your players have read and write access to the share. Next, both you and your players will need to configure the generator software to look for data in the shared folder you created above. To do this, run the launcher, check “More Options”, then click “Data Path”. In the dialog, check “Select your own data location”, and either type in the path in the provided text box, or use the “Choose” button to browse to the folder location. Again, this is the local sync folder on your hard drive for your cloud service, or the UNC path to your network share. Once you do this, you should all have access to the same data. If your data is on a cloud service, you’ll automatically get changes made by anyone else using the software.
Hopefully this helps.
Does anyone know how to show that a vehicles inside another vehicles hanger?
I think you have to manually mark it on a piece of paper.
Hello OggDude,
My group and I are new to FFG's SW (slow adopters) and wanted to say thank you for an excellent tool!
Possible Feature request.
I have a server that I use for our gaming groups related files and have started using the SWCharGen.
I used the portable install and a relative data path.
I was thinking that way my players wouldn't to have to install or configure anything and we also wouldn't need to reconfigure if we relocated the files for playing at a different location.
The problem I'm having is the cache file is stored in that directory as well and any time more than one instance of the chargen/gmtools is run it's denied access to the cache file. (And I expect may cause problems sharing an sdf file)
Would it be possible to add a checkbox option to the portability section to still have the cache file be in the users AppData?
Thank you sir!
This question is directed at the super users (you know who you are)! 😁
I have looked for information on how to add a custom picture to the starship/vehicle sheet in the defensive screen display but I can't seem to find it. Is there a way to do this?
Apologies if this question has been asked multiple times but at 400 pages this thread is a bit unwieldy.
So I'm having a weird issue. When I bring the trees for Conjure and Alter all its showing is a blank page. The other trees show up just fine. Is anyone else had/having this problem, and if so how did you fix it? I haven't tried deleting and reinstalling it yet, I will most likely try this when get home from work.

The included game data is incomplete and so not displaying properly. You'll want to pop open the data editor, input the missing information and reload the character so the generator will show the new data.

I suspect that: [Data Folder]/DataCustom/VehicleImages/ ... is where you would put the image. The ones provided by the developer all appear to be PNG and to be named after the Key value of the vehicle they are the default portrait for. I would then select it via the [SELECT PORTRAIT] button on the appropriate character window.
I've not tested this. Ya may have to play around with it a bit to get it to work.

It looks like he’s referring to the silhouettes (“in the defensive screen display”), but it’s the same concept, just a different folder. Instead of VehicleImages, it’s VehicleSilhouettes. They are, indeed, .png files sharing the same key name as the vehicle, with a transparent background.
Thanks Sunrunner, Nytwyng, silhouettes is what I meant to say. I will give that a shot!

There is a picture file in one of the subfolders. and you can put them where that is. I dont remember the specifics.
Are you ready for this to hit 10,000 replies?
Edited by YaccarusIt's been a while since any updates have come from Oggdude for the builder. Any update on when we might get some new additions to the ACG? I don't have the time to add to mine due to life and such so rely on auto updates to add the new material.
He reappeared about a month ago for a couple weeks after a long absence but then has gone quiet again. I think he's in the same situation that you are in where life and such has him pulled in too many directions and not able to focus on the fun stuff
So a dumb question. My printer took a crap and now I need to email the files to a friend so she can print them for me. What's the easiest format to convert the .xml into so she print it off?

Most computers should have a built in print-to-pdf feature. (If not, there are several free options such as CutePDF.) Begin the print process as normal, but select your print-to-PDF application as the “printer.” You’ll be prompted for a file name and save location, then forward that PDF to your friend for physical printing.
