How can LegendsoftheGalaxy.com better support your Generator?
Not sure how it happened, but I exported all the characters from my character generator, in an attempt to do maintenance on it. Upon reimporting the characters, some, but not all had their chosen career/specialization skills deselected. Not sure if this is a bug in the generator somewhere, but bringing it to your attention Ogg if there is something there.
Hey Oggy,
I could swear this worked correctly in the past, but it seems to be broken now in 1.6.3. The Defensive Training talents appears to be stacking with the Defensive quality from a curved hilt or Lorrdian gemstone. It does work fine with the Defensive quality of a Lightsaber Pike though, so it may just be an issue with stacking with attachments.
Thanks for all your work on this!

I created a lightsaber with a hilt, Lorridan, and curved hilt attachments. It correctly showed Defensive 3 when I was done. I then added a basic lightsaber with no attachments. It did not have Defensive at all.
I then added Niman and chose Defensive Training. The hilt still showed Defensive 3, and the basic lightsaber showed Defensive 1, which is correct. I'm not seeing the stacking. Can you give me some steps to reproduce what you saw?
I need some translations done in French. If anyone is up for the task (94 phrases, mostly short), please let me know. Thanks!
This has been of immense use to our group. The amount of time and effort you have put into this shows. Thanks for making it available!

I basically did it in the reverse order of what you described. I created a new character with Niman and selected two ranks of Defensive Training. Then I added a basic lightsaber and equipped it. It correctly showed Defensive 2. I then added a curved hilt and the mod, and it showed Defensive 3. Adding in a Lorrdian with upgrades, and it went up to Defensive 5.
My dataset is just descriptions, no other alterations, but I didn't double check it to make sure there weren't any corruptions there, so I'll check that tonight once I'm home. It's occurring on several of my groups' installs, so it's not just my instance, but we're all using the same dataset. If it's working fine for you, I'm guessing the dataset is the likely culprit.

I'm in ! Tell me what do you need exactly.

Ok, now that I'm home, I double checked the dataset, everything was just description changes. But to make sure, I completely removed the dataset and tried again, using your steps. It still occurred. I've also tried clearing the cache to see if that affected it with no luck. I'm using the web install at version 1.6.3.0, on Windows 10.
Any other ideas on what it might be?

I tried it again doing something slightly different and I got it to stack. Just adding the hilt with Defensive, but not the gem, would cause Defensive 3 to show up. Adding the gem would overwrite everything (including Defensive Training) and set Defense to 1 again. The problem was in the order in which I was calculating things, and what calculations were being made where.
What I ended up doing is totally rewriting the "AllQualities" routine so that it made consistent sense. What I do first is get base weapon qualities. Then I combine them with replacement qualities from attachments (like from gems, that replace existing qualities), since replacement qualities only ever replace base qualities, never qualities added from other sources. Then I add non-replacement qualities form attachments, and run all of the qualities past my talent checker to see if any talents modify the existing qualities (like Defensive Training modifying Defense). And finally, I add any new qualities from talents that aren't already in the list. The result is the complete list of qualities for the weapon. Moreover, it's being done correctly now in all situations

Awesome! Thanks for looking into this.
OK, this may have been discussed somewhere else...but I can't find it...
Is there a way to export all my characters at once so I can back everything up without having to export each character individually?
What about custom encounters / adversaries from the GM tool-is there a way to export those all at once as well?

In the launcher, if you click the Data Folder button, it will open up the folder that has all that information. You can either back up the entire folder or just the parts you want.

This.
I routinely copy my data folder from my home network to my laptop (then point the laptop to the local copy) when heading out to a game session, then, if any updates are made, I copy it back to the network.

You can also perform a complete backup using the Data Editor. It'll put everything in a ZIP archive. If you switch computers later on, you can do a restore and it'll put everything back.
Update: I'm just waiting now on a couple of translations, then I'll release. The next release after that will have at least the following:
Hi all there,
me and my friends we have just started to play the SW Edge of the Empire RPG.
Some of us used the Character Generator and it is really great, but what did not work, or what I was not able to do was, to pick a second specialization.
According to the rules it is possible to get more than one specialization. Or am I wrong?
Will this be added to the generator sometime soon?
Or if it is already included can somebody advise how to use it?
Thanks in advance and sorry if the question was already anwered.
I assume the gear, weapons, armor, vehicles etc from special modifications is included too? and Nexus of Power?

Everything except crafting. Well, the weapon crafting attachment and templates are there, but I'll be replacing them in the following release.
Just finally started using this tool, needed to make a custom talent tree for one of my characters. This worked wonders and saved me a shitload of time. Ogg, is there any place we can go to donate to you for this work? It's fantastic.

In the character generator there is a donate button at the top for paypal

You get one free specialization with your career choice, which you select from the Career pane. To purchase more specializations, go to the Specialization tab and click the Purchase button. You can have as many specializations as you have XP for.

Ah, ok. I had only used the data editor and GM tools. Thanks!
