Another Character Generator

Love this program. We're using it alot in our campaigns. :)

One feature I would wish for is being able to export the character into a form fillable pdf. Or maybe even a funksjon that lets us make a character sheet to use during play on a tablet or laptop.

There is a few forms like that running around one option is printing it out on paper. If you have a Windows tablet you can run the program as I have.

I can't tell from those screenshots - will it enable me to print a single item, such as a weapon or piece of armour to use as a player handout?

No, the reporting feature is for creating reports for data items, such as making indexes and the like. It's almost finished, and when it is, then I'll start adding Special Modifications. Then comes the release.

Doing "stat blocks" for weapons or other items is a good idea, but I won't get to it for the next release. It's too complicated, plus I still have a lot on my plate left to do, and it's been awhile since the last release so the natives are getting restless :)

Are you planning on doing both Special Modifications and Savage Spirits in the release after you've finished the reports, or are you planning on splitting them up?

Am sure when it arrives it will be worth the wait, my players are as restless as me as i have said special modifications is no go in game until the update lol.

I wanted to say THANK YOU for your thousands of hours of work on your char generator. I am a new player to the game and it has immediately helped me build, plan, and manage my campaigns, encounters, and char building. Because you spent so much time programming in the rules logic, I am immediately kept honest as I build. From my first experience with the FFG RPG I have yet to use anything but your tool. Even my Realm Works subscription might go by the wayside due to your GM Tools.

You deserve more praise than you get, Sir. And while many are just begging you to include the new Tech book and trees (and trust me, I can't wait until that happens either) I think you need to be heaped on with more praise than anyone has yet sent your way.

Btw. Is it possible to get "custom" as an option for Obligations and Motivations and such? And to fill out custom skills or rename species? :)

Hey Oggdude, can you add the option to buy blasters with a stun setting just as stun guns please at half the price as normal with all of the corresponding stats and such as the Range being dropped to short and the Qualities reading stun damage rather than stun setting?

You can add the gun for free, then remove half the price after. Then you can change the name of the gun to reminds you that only stun works. :)

You could always go in to the data editor and make these changes yourself. Just go to the corresponding type and create a new item

Thanks, Scott. Not sure I deserve such praise :) but I'm glad the generator is working well for your group. Fear not, the new source books are being added. I'm "done" with reports (it's a totally new section of the GM Tools, so I'm sure there's bugs that need to be worked out) and I'm up to Signature Abilities in the tech book. Savage Spirts is waiting for me at my FLGS, but I haven't had time to get it just yet.

If there was a rule for this (ie, "Any blaster can be modified as stun-only and sold at half the price, with the following changes..."), I'd put it in. But I limit house rules to what's 1) really popular, and 2) something appropriate for GM Grants (not overly-complicated to implement). See if the work-arounds already mentioned fit the bill for you.

Edit: I take that back. There is a line that mentions this in the Blasters section. Well, heck, learn something new every day :) I doubt I'll get to this in the upcoming release, but I'll mull it over a bit to figure out the best way to implement this.

The Data Editor is your friend :) You can add and change just about anything in the data editor.

Hey OggDude, farm out some of the work! I would be happy to do some data entry for Savage Spirits if that helps. Would it be as simple as creating a dataset in the Data Editor, then adding all the new stuff in under that dataset? Or does it need to be done a different way for it to work how you want?

Perhaps add it into the purchase screen? A checkbox (for blasters only) that changes the base price to 50% of list and overrides it with "Stun Damage" as an attribute?

To placate the savage natives ( ;) ), do you think there is any chance that you could copy the info from special modifications into a separate update and put it out to the masses, giving you more time to work on the super complicated indexing thing.

If you are looking for a correction then I believe the lightsaber shoto weapon damage is wrong. It comes up as 4 damage when the book says 5 (the hilt has a -1 damage on it but a regular lightsaber has 6 damage).

Also if you build it as a hilt and add the Ilum crystal to it then it ends up correct at 5 damage.

Thats the sort of thing I was thinking of.

To those that have replied saying I can do it myself, while I know this and have done this for my current character, it would be something useful for the future.

Would anyone be heartbroken if I didn't add Droid Crafting to the next release? It's going to take the same amount of time to do that the Inquisitor creation did, plus I'm thinking I'd need to add it somewhere to the generator, rather than GM Tools. It'll delay the next release, and after I finish SM (up to vehicles now), I'm going to have to do Savage Spirits as well. I'd like to get the new release out as soon as possible...

Sounds fine to me. I know I'm just one person, but I get far more use out of having the FFG-generated content (items, specializations, etc) in the software more beneficial than the crafting elements. I find it provides more consistency across the members of the group than adding in new release material ourselves, but possibly not guessing correctly as to the key you'll use for the real release. ;)

My vote would be push out the everything-but-droid-crafting sooner, and then add the crafting stuff in later!
