Sorry if this has been addressed before, but has anyone else had issues with some worn armors not having their encumbrance reduced correctly? Specifically the laminate and heavy battle armors are getting no reduction at all.
Another Character Generator
DropBox has finished syncing, so go ahead and download.
I've gotten the latest update and I'm still getting that "System.DllNotFound.Exception" error I mentioned on the last page. Any idea as to what's causing that or what I need to install to get rid of that error?
Check to see if you have SQL Server Compact Edition version 4 installed. If you do, uninstall it and try again.
Had it installed, uninstalled it and reinstalled it, and it still isn't working for whatever reason.
Just uninstall it and see if the generator works.
Eventually, I'll switch to SQLCE 4, and I do have 3.5 embedded in my app, but some people get conflicts if they also have 4 installed.
Downgrading to 3.5 is what fixed it for me. That conflict you mentioned looked like it was the main issue.

Downgrading or uninstalling 4.0 would do it. You actually don't need to have 3.5 installed for the generator to work, as I embed the required DLLs with the install.
Did the bug fix release fix everyone's problems? Let me know if there's any other issues.
I haven't installed 1.6.2 yet. I've been playing around with your generator for a while now, and it's awesome. I find that most questions I have are somewhere in the topic, but one that hasn't been addressed yet is if there any plans to expand the GM Tools (I haven't got a sense about how widely used the feature is). One selfish example: I do a lot of planet hopping, and a "Stock Planets" tab, with fields for just the basic information from the Atlas or Wookieepedia and a Notes section, that would populate a drop-down box in the Encounters would expand the functionality.
Just downloaded and installed fix and its all working fine. Thanks again Ogg dude.. I promise to hit that donate button
so far saving with np man thanks
Not to criticize, and I am really glad for all the stuff from Lead by Example that was put in..but the Strategist specialization seems to not be in.

Strategist is there and shows up when you select the Commander career. Did you customize Commander using the data editor, other than changing the description?

I've thought about adding an atlas feature. One issue is that I couldn't add FFG descriptions to it. Descriptions would have to come from a public domain source, like Wookieepedia, and even then, there can be copyright issues. I personally have a MS Word document where I create data sheets for planets that I print out and give to the players.
I'll continue to ponder this, though
I would second the request for an in generator atlas of some kind.
More special thanks goes to Split Light, David Gray, Gordon Delf, Grant Noble, Elias Wrightam, and SilindeT for their generous donations. Thanks, guys! I really appreciate the support!
A bit off-topic, but I started a thread in the AoR forum about the medals and commendations listed in Lead by Example, specifically their lack of artwork and possible designs. I included my interpretation of the Redbird Badge.
Anyway, I didn't want to start another topic on this forum that just forwards them to the other one, but considering the EotE forum gets a lot more traffic than the AoR forum, just thought I'd do a little mention here.
We'll now return to our regularly-scheduled discussion

Checked on 3 computers now, waiting for the fourth but everything has been working so far. Since I don't have access to any books since Lead by Example I can't check any of that content. But hey it's looking good.
Fourth computer checked out OK.

Perhaps a suggestion would be the options that were available for the planet detail descriptions that were provided in WEG's old Planets of the Galaxy Collection. If you wanted to be tricky, you could add in a random planet generator as well.
First off, a big thank you OggDude for all the work you have been doing to create and continuing to update this generator.
I did have a request though. Would it be possible to place a Rarity filter within the weapons/armour/gear section of the Character Generator. Since their a filters already for credits available, and (Un)Restricted, I just thought this would be useful for purchasing items on certain worlds, or through prestige.
Off the top of my head, it would just require a field so the user can enter to maximum Rarity available, and will only include those from Rarity 1 to X, along with the filters you already have available.
I have no idea if this is doable, but just thought I would ask for the future.
An editable atlas with default descriptions as title and page numbers is fine with me. We can fill in the details just fine. Just so wear clear here, I would very much welcome this feature.
Oggy,
I have one particular player that has taken the +10 experience from starting at 50 morality, then also took 20 points of obligation to get another +10 starting experience.
This is more of a feature request instead of a bug report. Either in 1.6.2 or 1.7.0 could you please include programming to enforce the RAW from page 339 from F and D.
"ADDITIONAL STARTING CREDITS AND XP"
"No matter how many systems a character is using, he can never start with more than 2,500 additional credits and/or 10 additional starting experience points."
I recognize that some GM's may wish to allow the exploitation of this particular aspect of character creation, so I would also ask for a GM grant to allowing character's to draw from more than one, but for the default to put the limit at 10 experience and 2,500 credits.
I had two other question/suggestions that I do not believe that you touched on yet:
Thanks Oggy!
Has anyone clarified that rule? AoR CRB simply says that you can only benefit from extra obligation or reduced duty, not both (pg 342). It says nothing about limiting XP or credits. Nor does the EotE CRB. Since you can take both the +5 and +10 XP with 15 additional obligation (or less duty), and since the only stated limit is that you can only take each option once, I'm thinking they made a typo in the FaD CRB and it should be 15 and 3500 instead.
At any rate, I could look into adding a warning if a greedy player is trying to gain benefits from multiple sources, something like what I did for starting characteristics. If it's not too complicated, I'll do it for this release. If it is, I'll wait.
Having multiple lightsaber skills show up based on certain talents is more complex, so I'll look into that one for the following release.
The encumbrance threshold mods really should have been working for all equipment types and I had over-complicated the calculation by limiting it to gear and armor. They'll now work for all equipment. Another way you could have done it would have been making them 0-HP attachments.
I think the warning should be sufficient, and you are probably correct about the typo and the Maximum should be +15 experience and/or +3500 credits.
Hopefully you can work out the multiple lightsaber skills.
I put them on the weapons as 0-HP attachments on the weapons. Unfortunately even with the latest release they still do not work for all equipment.
*If you put a decrease encumbrance mod on an attachment for a weapon it still has a minimum encumbrance of 1.
*If you put a increase encumbrance threshold mod on an attachment for a weapon it still does nothing to the encumbrance at all.
New issue I found today: The show column of check boxes is only on the weapons page, it is gone from armor and equipment.
Kind of useful to have for spare suits of armor that aren't always worn or equipment that isn't always carried.
Never mind, they are automatically shown.
Thanks for the quick fix!
I found what I think is an error. The Force power Enhance no longer shows up under the skills when you print. I've tried clearing the catch and rebuying the power, neither worked.

I just checked that and mine displays just fine.
I reloaded the character and it worked until i went to print the character. If any one could help I'd appreciate it.

Make sure "Include Force Power Trees" is checked when you go to print.
It is. It seems that it only happens when I make changes. Then I have to save and reload and they reapear. I've reinsralled the program to see if that will fix it.
The Ancient Sword should use the Lightsaber skill, not the Melee skill.
