Another Character Generator

By OggDude, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I'd also like to vote to force Morality for a non-force user character. Some (but not all) non force users in my group actually want in on the Morality mechanic. So it would be nice to have a tickbox to enable morality on that particular character if they are a non-force user.

Is anyone willing to share their compiled data to fill in the generic see page # of this book. I will be honest I am to lazy to type all that data into the generator.

Why did you make the Morality mechanic require a force rating?

The mechanic CAN be applied to non force users. It was only some members of the forums that thought it should be locked down, RAW does not say this.

You know what would be nice? A check box for dual wielding on weapons. so you could check off 2 blaster pistols or 2 lightsabers etc.
Then on your shown weapons it could have a line for the dual wielded weapons and what the effect would be. A line for each weapon being used as the primary.

Adversaries in GM Tools wont load at all, and can not make new ones either. Keep getting a Unhandled exception error.

Hmmm... adversaries seems to work fine for me, so it isn't a global issue.

After hearing that another person didn't have issues with the Adversaries, I cleared the homemade ones, then they worked just fine. I entered each of the homemade ones except the Inquisitor I made from the beta rules and they all went in, so maybe the Inquisitor has something the program doesn't like?????

I was able to get everything else running. Have not found any other issues as of yet.

nope. it takes a while, but it is so nice when you do

One trick I found was to use a PDF of the talent trees that is available and copy and paste the text into the CharGen. Check the site "Begging for XP"

kinnison I have those PDFs but I had not thought of that! Well spotted :)

A suggestion that might be cool for a finished product, is the coloring of the different books like you did for the skin of the generator, available in the printed char sheet.

Seconded! Thanks! I hadn't thought of that, kinnison.

Now, just need the F&D talents on PDF...

Oh yeah Ogg...Is there a spot for someone to add a NPC Droid?? And custom the stats if necessary? If not something to consider?

You can build any type of NPC with the GM Tools and it lets you create a Stat Block image which you can print out.

Or you could create a PC droid and customize it any way you wanted.

Is there something different than these options that you're looking for?

The Morality area cannot have data entered for it, the Data Editor is currently missing an area where you can enter said descriptions.

The Master Grenadier talent is listed twice. Once as MASGREN and again as MASTGREN.

Nice application. Thanks.

Prog, where is that at in the stuff??

To make a droid, you can run the Character Generator application and set the Species to Droid. Then you can add Characteristics, Skills, Talents, etc, as needed. You can then use that droid as an NPC in your game.

To make an NPC droid, run the GM Tools application and click on Adversaries. Then you click on "New", and set the "Adversary Name" to whatever the droid's name is. You can write a description that indicates what kind of droid it is.

Then use the Characteristics, Skills/Talents/Force, and so on buttons on the left to set the attributes to whatever you want them to be.

Click "Add" when you're done. When you've saved it there is a button on the right called "Stat Block", which will save the character's stat block to an image you can print out.

Does that help?

Seems the Marshal is listing Adversary instead of Street Smarts in Column 3, Row 1. I checked the data file that I sent, and it was a screw-up on my part.

The only other thing that I'm noticing is that I've got to click the Add/Purchase button for equipment twice to get it to recognize that I'm trying to add/buy equipment for a character, and happens with both the CharGen and GMTools. But that could just be an issue on my end.

Yes, now how do we put that into the char sheet so it shows in the pdf??

How do you put what into what character sheet so it shows in what PDF?

If you use the Character Generator to create a droid which is an NPC, you can print it out or save it to PDF just like you could with any character you create.

If you use the GM Tools to create an NPC droid as an "Adversary", there is a button labeled "Stat Block", which will save the character's stats as an image.

There's not specifically a way to put that Stat Block into another character's PDF. Are you talking about, like a character who owns a droid?

I'd recommend just creating it using the Character Generator or the GM Tools on its own. It doesn't necessarily need to be "IN" another character's sheet.

Yeah, the data program is missing a lot of entry areas, such as lightsaber attachments/upgrades, morality entries and more.

Edit: Nevermind, found the lightsaber crystals.

Edit 2: Not sure if this is a bug, however the Alliance T-47 airspeeder in the Age of Rebellion core rulebook differs from the standard T-47 found in the Edge of the Empire core rulebook in the form of being armed with two heavy blaster cannons.

I thought I'd add it as a stock vehicle, however for some reason the T-47's only option for a blaster cannon is a light blaster cannon, the heavy blaster cannon is not a viable option.

Talents that change the lightsaber base skill don't seem to work...

they work. look on the specialization tree where the talent is in the upper right side.

Hey Ogg....How bout making a box for Dual Attacks w/ specific weapons. I know you have the dice pool for 1 wpn and that is AWESOME...So is it possible to have a 2 wpn combo setup?

As for Morality entries in the CharGen, you have to use the Notes section to the right of the Morality options, which will then show up on the Character sheet. However, it's not separated into Strength and Weakness, which I've not found to be that big a hurdle in writing up the descriptive fluff.
