Another Character Generator

By OggDude, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

the manual shows you how to input force powers.

Who are you replying to?

Is there a way for the printout to include Force dice added to skill checks (ie., Influence's Control Upgrade adding to Charm, Negotiate, Deception, Leadership; or the stuff from Enhance)?

On the character sheet, skill pools should include boosts, removed setbacks, and Force dice from talents, powers, or items. It it's not showing the proper die for a skill, then it may not be configured properly. I'll look at it in a week or so (I'm out of town right now).

Never mind! I hadn't realized that this was a feature of a newer version. Suspected it might be, so hit the link in the original post, mocked up a character, and it's adding the dice as appropriate.

Any chance you could add the version number to the file name, or indicate on your original post the date/version when you come out with an update?

1. I have another feature request. I am running modules and I often see things like enemies doing opposed stealth checks vs the highest perception in the player group. I'd love to be able to have the highest perception (or perhaps highest 2) listed on the group sheets from the gm tools. This could be straight up ranks, or a calculation of ranks/stats/talents.

Would there be other skills that might be handy in this regard as well? (Negotiation, imtimidation, charm, etc.?)

2. Also I have my players added to a group in the gm tools. Since they are always changing them with xp, it can be hard to stay on top of all the modifications. I'd love an option to print out the full details of everyone in the group (probably unchecked by default on print), just like going into the character generator and printing them out one by one. This is something that I could do right before a game and have it on file for reference (or in case they mess up shared characters on dropbox, which does happen with the less tech savvy members of my group).

Just a small thing you have the Macrobinoculars listed as page 165 of the core rule book but they are actualy on page 175. Awesome tool btw I am new to this game and this has been a huge help keep it up

I'm back from vacation! Went to Washington state and British Columbia, Canada. Noticed something rather tragic on the streets of Victoria, BC, however:

Darth.jpg

Yes, it appears that the Empire is so down on its luck these days that Darth Vader has taken to playing the violin for handouts, just to get by.

I saw this guy right before we ducked into a coffee house across the street and had to take his picture, just to show you guys :)

Each code file (exe or dll) has the current version number. Just hover over the file in Windows Explorer, or right click and get its properties. Also, when you run the Launcher, the current build number is displayed on the bottom left.

Oggdude,

How did you get the dice symbols into your program? Is it possible to import those symbols into other programs? I recently got Realm Works and I would love to use those for my EOTE Realms.

I was wondering if there was a way auto update it instead of downloading it all over again?

That's exactly what the Web Install versions of the character generator do.

ok thanks

I have them as PNG images. You can also install the SWRPGIcons font that has all the special symbols. The link is in this thread .

I really love this program. It's simply great

Is there any chance of this being ported to Android? Being able to have this on a tablet would be indispensable.

That would be completely amazeballs, but the primary issue, I think, is that it runs on .Net which is MS thing. =(

I've tried running .Net programs on the Mac. In theory, it's easy.

In practice, ... well, ... there's a lot of difference between theory and practice.

IMO, the better solution is to just put it all on the web, using whatever framework you want. From there, if you have done your job right, then it won't matter what kind of browser they're using or what OS they're using.

That's part of why I'm so excited to be helping with the FFG SWRPG Index at http://swrpg.viluppo.net/

Couple things, one an error, the other something that would need a coding update.

The Error: for the Tactician Specialization, in Row 5/Column 2 it lists Adversary instead of Natural Leader.

Coding-related: Being able to apply the Jury-Rigged talent to non-weapon gear to get the reduced Encumbrance value, such as dropping the Encumbrance rating of a tool kit or jet pack. This can be worked around by using Tinkerer to apply a hard point to that piece of gear, and then building a custom Jury Rigged (Gear) entry under Item Attachments.

Wow @oggdude , I recently found your generator . Unbelievably good ! Is there a section in it with premade adversaries , or a section where you can make them from scratch ? Your generator is so good I bought the game based on how much I liked your generator . :D

I apologize if this has already been mentioned, but... 107 pages! Can't go through it all.

So is this a bug or a feature? If you purchase an additional spec, you get new class skills. If you've previously taken ranks in those skills, you will get a rebate on those skills and end up with extra XP. Example: a BH-Assassin takes a rank of Computer (for 10XP) at some point after chargen. Later they buy the Demolitionist spec for 30XP, but per the app it ends up only costing 25XP because Computer is a class skill.

Seems like a bug to me.

whafrog,

Yeah, it's a bug. Last mention of it, there wasn't really a way to address that in the program to prevent the XP rebate.

Thanks, not a huge deal, I can always post-adjust the XP

I couldn't find a way to export the character as a PDF. The problem I have is that I can't print at home, so I email my PDF's to work to print. At work I cannot install the character generator on my computer. I have been manually updating my character from the character generator. I like the layout of the sheet in the character generator, but I cannot find a blank PDF that I could fill out to match that layout. Easiest would be to just export character out of character generator as PDF. Any help?

Print to PDF. Should be available on almost all OSes, either as a standard feature, or through third-party software designed for this function.

Hi OggDude,

I just updated the app after several months of not playing and I'm encountering a bug trying to edit one of my characters.

I have a Technician - Outlaw Tech, and when I try to give him a rank in a Talent, I get a dialog box saying "You have purchased talents in your current career specialization. If you continue, these talents will be lost. Are you sure you want to do this?"

If I pick 'No', the program thinks for a moment then asks me again. If I pick 'Yes', the program resets my specialization to "Mechanic", rather than "Outlaw Tech".

EDIT: I cleared my cache and it works properly now. Nevermind!

Thanks :)

How can I use the Obligation section? I'm a bit confused as to whether it is calculating the points or not and the Obligation option boxes of stuff to buy with Obligation are all grayed out.
