Another Character Generator
Excellent. I'm not in a position to help you financially, but anything else I can do I will. I code too. Have done for the Traveller RPG. What you have done here is excellent.
Ogg was woundering if someone was to fill out the Talents descriptions would that make any problems if it was sent to you and included in future versions of the creator?
Tassedar, goto Oggy's forums. We have shared files there. I think Oggy would rather keep his data empty and let the users enter it.
I guess it's about time I repeat this
I don't include any data from the books because they're copyrighted by FFG/Lucas/Disney. I also don't provide any of my own data from the books outside the apps because 1) it would be the same, in principle, as just including it with the apps, and 2) I have to enter this stuff just like everyone else, and I don't have complete data, myself. If I want FFG to respect my right to write (free) software for their game, I need to respect their copyrights.
I have created an open forum where people can upload anything they want to upload. I, myself, have included import packs for a couple of fan-made adventures. What anyone else uploads and shares with the community is up to them. Even there, you won't be seeing any copyrighted data coming from me.
As the documentation says, "you will need the rulebook for reference during the character generation process", and that hasn't changed from day 1. Always buy at least the CRB before using the software. You'll be very glad you did!
Has anyone found anything else wrong with the latest build? I've accumulated a few fixes, but I haven't heard anything for awhile, so I was thinking of doing a new build tomorrow morning. If you've discovered something wrong, or if you have any simple requests, now's the time to tell me
I wrote a request a page or so ago I don't know if you noticed: Choosing source book also an option for GM tools, making a Force user adversary was a real pain in the ass as I had to check each and every line to figure out if the force talent was in the CRB or not.
Oh and another request, again when making Adversaries. Would it be possible to construct the statblocks as multi-columns instead of one long column? This would be particularly useful when I have an Adversary with a lot of talents, while having the full text description of the talents in my Data. Right now they get really unwieldily as I have to scroll a lot to get down to the weapons, so now I always open them in paint and manually make them multi-column.
Source is unneeded in GM Tools. However, I did modify the way Force abilities are selected in the "add adversary" dialog. There's now a drop down at the top where you can filter the abilities by Force power. I also made the font smaller so more of the description will fit in, removed the power descriptor at the end (the power is now listed in the drop down), and took off sorting so that the abilities should be listed more or less in tree order.
As for the other request, if you're saying that some stat blocks can be really long, you can adjust the text size down. "Medium" is still pretty readable when you have a complicated adversary, and it will shrink the vertical size of the stat block. Simpler adversaries can stay at "Extra Large" and be fine.
I have used smaller text sizes, multicolumn would still be much better. But if it's too much work then don't stress, I survive the way I am doing things now.
Not sure if this has been asked before, but is there a way to place the PCs into there positions on the vehicle so that it will show all the vehicle specific talents/skills for them either on there character sheet or on the vehicle sheet?
All characters you have stored will automatically be generated as adversaries in GM Tools. That is, the characters are loaded, converted into their equivalent adversary, and the adversary is inserted in with your other adversaries. All PC adversaries belong to the "Player Character" category so you can get to them quickly.
To do what you want to do, just create a vehicle encounter and man your vehicle with the adversary versions of your PCs.

Going back to my earlier question(also quoted) i guess i will turn it in to a request. Can you add the ability to select a characters position in on the star ship/vehicle. I would like to see it on the vehicle tab on the character creator portion. And have it add the position specific maneuvers/actions(with the descriptions I've added) to the character sheet on the vehicle portion of the sheet. Kinda the way the talents are listed.
I guess that might not be a simple request.
New release is ready. Not much in this one, but it should take care of the few little issues that have been reported during the past week or so. Enjoy.
- The Ghtroc 720 Light Freighter had incorrect shields. This has been fixed.
- Modified the force abilities panel when adding adversaries. The abilties are no longer sorted (so they'll be grouped together by power), the grid font is now 10 point, so more information is displayed, and there is now a drop down at the top to filter by force power. This should make it easier select abilities belonging to a particular power. When a force power is selected from the drop down, the power descriptor is also removed from the ability's name in the grid, since it's redundant.
- Modified the talent trees to be able to grow and shrink depending on the text description. This includes the tree shown on the character sheet. I'll look into doing the same thing for Force powers and signature abilities, but as of now, they do not do this.
- Added an option when printing group sheets to exclude the destiny pool.
- PC adversaries were no longer being added to the adversary list. This was due to a retooling of the load form. They are now added properly and are also saved properly to the cache for quicker access.
- All brawl weapons were supposed to combine the weapon qualities with the qualities of the standard unarmed attack. However, the shown weapons on the character sheet weren't doing this. All shown brawl weapons will now also include qualities inherited from the standard unarmed attack.
- Certain brawl weapons, such as vamblades and blast knuckles, cannot deal stun damage as a normal unarmed attack. This was signified by an ad hoc item descriptor. However, with the changes to brawl weapons on the character sheet, this needs to be known so that the Stun Setting quality is not added to the weapon. A new item descriptor, NOSTUN, has been added and all such weapons will have this as a base mod. The shown weapons on the character sheet will now exclude the Stun Setting from brawl weapons that have this mod.
- There was a bug when choosing group emblems. If the GroupEmblems directory didn't exist under DataCustom, it would crash. It now works.
- Most of the generator no longer respected sources. Sources should now be working again.
I've been having a strange bug since starting to use this excellent piece of software.
I've chosen the Bounty Hunter. I've noticed that when I modify a piece of equipment to have the Quick Draw quality (eg heavy blaster rifle with harness and quick draw mod) that this then gets hard selected in my talent tree, meaning that I am unable to deselect it.
If this isn't the right place to be making these sort of comments I apologise. Thanks very much for your time.
Hey Ogg...Is there a Way to see a Character Sheet of your PC W/O having to do a Print Preview?? Or by just going through the tabs and seeing certain stats or talents???
I saw what you did for your Luke Skywalker creation sheet and I want to have that sheet on my Laptop w/o having to print it.
Thanks in adv.
Bulding an adversary, I noticed "Master Grenadier" is listed twice; one description is "Please see Age of Rebellion book" the other is "Please see page 32 of Dangerous Covenants for details."
Not sure if you left it in there anticipating it being published a second time in AoR or if it was just missed when you updated for DC.

Well... yeah, I guess it would do that When you equip that weapon, it sees that you have Quick Draw. Since it's an unranked talent, it gets automatically selected in any tree you have because the rules say that you only have to purchase such a talent once.
Of course, getting a talent from equipment isn't actually purchasing it. So, I may have to exclude non-purchased talents from this rule. I'll take a look at the code.

All you need to do is install a PDF print driver, such as doPDF . Then you can "print" your character to a PDF file and view it on your laptop.

No, it's just a duplication. A few of those were bound to appear. I'll take a look at the data.
Whoa 100 Pages
And 1,981 replies and over 84,000 views. Not that I'm counting or anything
After I get that driver...then what do I do? Do I open up the sheet and open as a PDF?? What are the steps?

You print as usual, just choose the doPDF driver instead of your printer (you'll see it in the printer list). It'll prompt you for a location for your file, then save it.
Is there anyways to print NPC stat blocks without making an encounter? I'd like to print these to PDF so I can store them on my google drive so I can pull them up quickly on my phone or Ipad during a game.

Go to Adversaries, click on Statblock and save an image.
