Another Character Generator

By OggDude, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Pardon the basic questions, but... are you using the Data Editor to add your ship? Do you hit the save button after you add your ship? Does the ship show up in the list? Does it have "AddedItem" next to it? If you close the Data Editor and open it again, is your ship still there?

I actually discovered the reason.

Short version: I'm an idiot :P

Long version: In the Character Generator in Options under Select Sources there is a check for User Data . It is amazing what you can see if you turn it on.....

As for the other point, is this for the inventory and vehicle lists on the character sheet? Like having a "weapon" in the list that says "My new cool blaster will go here"?

More of a way to add the name of a ship to the Vehicle tab if it has not been created in the data base yet. I am making several pregens for a intro-game next week and I plan on using deck-plans I have for a ship that is not in system yet. I was going to make a note on the Vehicle tab so the 'owner' would know he's the owner. Then I noticed that there is no provision to add 'notes' on the vehicle or equipment tabs unless it's for an actual vehicle or piece of equipment. I have yet to stat up the ship, so I'm probably going to 'pen it on' after printing for now.

If not on those tabs, perhaps an additional 'notes' tab. A place that you can add that 'unknown alien device' onto the character sheet or jot general comments.

Unless there already is one and I am blind....

Thanks Kaosoe! You said what I needed my coffee to say clearly! :)

Yup, Award XP and Award Credits.

Something like that?

Wow! That's perfect Ogg!

I was wondering if anyone has files for the GM Tools they would be willing to share (i.e: adversaries, encounters, groups)?

Tapeworm supreme, goto Oggy's website forum. Some of us have shared stuff there.

I registered here only too let you know. Great job!

bsycamore, do you have the link to this forum?

Hi there! Oggy one suggestion. What do you think about use a Blue/Black cube (Boost/Setback) with a number inside intead add so many dices?

If you have Boosts and remove Setbacks they don't appear on the sheet resume.

I think i've encountered a error in the data.

i'm creating a human fringer. i can't see piloting (planetary) under the options for a humans non-carrer skills.

Make sure you have the latest version. I just tried to make the same and it is listed for me between melee and ranged - heavy.

It's working for me too. Did you buy any talents that make Piloting Planetary a career skill?

A couple of things... if you do it for boosts and setbacks, you might as well do it for ability and proficiency too, to be consistent. But then everyone's pool would look the same, except for numbers. And if that's the case, you might was well just put numbers and forego the dice symbols altogether. Also, the remove setback dice already have a red X in the middle. If you put a number there, you wouldn't see the red X :)

I was thinking of adding a single force dice as well, just to "represent" a force check. But I know that will confuse people, who will say that their force rating is 2, or 3, so why am I just displaying just one force die? So, I'm displaying one force die for each point of force rating, so as not to confuse people.

To make this work better, I'm now scaling the force pool bitmap to fit the space. So you might see long dice pools with slightly smaller die symbols.

I am looking forward to the next version. Can't wait.

I was kinda, sorta, waiting to get Jewel of Yavin so I could add all the new goodies. However, I'm taking a day trip tomorrow to the Napa Valley, and on my way back, I'll stop off at my FLGS. If they don't have JoY in yet, I'll just release on Monday. I have a surprising number of fixes and improvements for this next version :)

Got Jewel of Yavin. :) lots 9f cool stuff in it. New add ons for speeders.

Physical Training Boosts isn't added on skills.

Oh and about the Boost/Setback "problem" ok, and the Force Rating idea its a goog one.

Good catch. Added boosts for Physical Training.

Hi,
Not sure what's happening here. I have the new version and it loads my characters from my dropbox folder, but for some reason my mechanic's skill has a weird fourth icon which persists when I try to print (it looks like an orange x with a black square background). Any idea what's wrong? What other information can I provide to help find the source of the error (if indeed there is one). I took a screenshot. Hopefully the link works

Thanks

A suggestion. I'm a newbie of photoshop, but you can really create almost-equal-quality png using less hd space. Also you can reduce resolution in half for those image previews in the application. This way you can go from 600Kb pic to a 100Kb one.

I have changed all pics from /VehicleImages folder from the original format to indexed colour mode (default options) and 50% resolution (now all are 346x346px) and the folder went from 47MB to 7MB (the .zip went from 100MB to 60MB). If you want the folder I can send it to you.

That means remove a set back. certain talents remove set back die from skill checks.

The Zeltron race get a free advantage on charm/deception/negotiation, but it's not showing when I look at the skills section.

Yeah, that's just me being lackadaisical with creating images. I took a look at the character sheet, and they only really need to be 196x196. I'll go through and resize them all.
