Highest Placed deck which does not contain Blood Runs True or Feline Spike: Street Fighter II Championship Edition (for your TV) (I think it's Championship Edition anyway)

Last Place: The amazing prize of a Rock Howard starter!!!!!!

So, you'll notice that everyone in the top 16 gets a patch and lots of promos, the top 8 get life counters as well and the top 4 get artwork. Everyone in the tournament will get a sizeable amount of promos (I've been collecting prizes for the next large tournament I ran for about 6 months, thank you to everyone who donated prizes for this) and there will be several random prizes as well.

If there are lots of people in the tournament, any money left over from the cost of the regionals kit will be used to puchase boosters as extra prizes.

If anyone plans to stay in Sheffield overnight, I have more than enough promos to run whatever side events you would like on the Sunday, if you have any requests then please post them here.

Directions to Patriot Games:

By Train (5 minute walk): Exit the train station using the main entrance (the one with lots of water features). Turn right and cross the road. Follow the blue-roofed walkway and you will reach the bus station.

By Bus (5 minute walk): Exit the bus station using the main entrance (the one with the customer services desk). Climb a small flight of steps and continue forwards until you reach tram tracks. Cross the tracks and continue down a mild slope past Burger King and Wilkinson. At the bottom of the slope you will see a bridge over a river, cross the road and walk over the bridge and you will see Patriot Games on your right.

By Car: Leave the M1 motorway at junction 33 and follow the A630 signposted Sheffield City Centre. To reach the bus or railway station, at the main Park Square roundabout take the third exit onto Sheaf Street (signposted Ring Road, Chesterfield). You will now pass the bus station on your right and the railway station on your left. There are lots of car parks in Sheffield City centre as well as several park and ride areas for the Supertram system. You can catch the Supertram to the Fitzallan Square stop and walk down the slope past Burger King and Wilkinson (see above) or otherwise park in the City Centre and ask for directions to walk to the Bus Station or Fitzallan Square Tram Stop, both of which are 5 minutes away from the shop and within the city centre.

If you have any questions or would like any information, please post here, send me a PM on the SQC forums or e-mail me at [email protected].

See you there

- Ross

Have we had any information on how many people will qualify for Nats (if there is one) from this? Is it just the winner, top 2, top 4, etc?

EDIT: Also will set 12 be legal for this tournament?

The Regionals have no bearing on who is allowed to take part in the Nationals, and yes there will be one, I've just started work on the what, where, etc., now. What the Regionals will do is get you entry to the CHampion of Champions tournament, an event that will be ran after the UK Nats later this year. The idea is to finish the Nats on Sunday lunchtime, this will be followed the Champs tournament and other side events to be confirmed. More info to follow, watch this space.

Well, not this space perse, otherwise I'd be highjacking the thread even more. happy.gif

OK, Set 12 will not be legal for the event as the release date has yet to be confirmed - I would only normally allow it to be legal if it were released at least week beforehand, so unless people want it to be legal (post here!) then it won't be.

@ Steve, I'm happy for anything that draws attention to this thread :P

I personally would love to see the new stuff legal for this tourney as it wil make it more interesting to see how people will use the new cards and what new ideas have turned up.

Gonna try and get some time booked off, a deck built and finished off, and some other players to attend. Can't be making any promises yet though!

The more the merrier!

I'll even promise not to make you drink Supermalt this time..... gui%C3%B1o.gif

Me and my friend are interested in going, just need to know if there are any premier inns or travelodges around.

Lol our first tourney EVER, and its a regional. XD

There's a travelodge approximately 200 yds from the shop, right next to the car park I always use.

I'm planning on being there - looking forward to catching up with everyone.

Thanks for replying a lot faster than I can : )

There's also an Ibis and a Holiday Inn nearby and a Jury's Inn has just opened which is about 10 minutes walk away. Also, there's a hotel called the Riverside Court Hotel across the road from the shop.

www.riversidecourt.co.uk/

www.ibishotel.com/gb/hotel-2891-ibis-sheffield-city/index.shtml

http://www.holidayinn.com/ (search for "Sheffield".... no matter what I do no links work to the Sheffield hotel page)

sheffieldhotels.jurysinns.com/

Also, the player who finishes last gets a Rock Howard starter which is clearly very sought after. If he's willing, the first place winner can have the famous Kevin Beadle as a special prize :D

wow u mean we can take him home and dress him up in a tu tu

really bumed that i can't make this (yugioh nats is on the same weekend and in sheffield at that sorpresa.gif )

Pull some Fred Flinstone skills and go to both events at the same time.

hey does this mean i as i am the only that commented bout set 12 legality (providig it is release before ) it will be legal

SWEET!!!

Just to annoy Justin, please don't make set 12 legal for this (seeing as it'll only have been out for about a week, if we're lucky).

To my knowledge, the set is actually only released that week, so making it legal would be fairly unfair on anyone that doesn't get a change to attend a pre-release.

I'd vote for Set 12 not being legal for the event, but that's just me. Ross, could you let us know one way or the other though.

Kev

Set 12 is, barring any delays, pencilled in to be released on the 24th according to my paperwork. That would in theory give people 24 hours to come up with something cunning using the new cards, hardly fair really.

No, no, it will not be legal for the event as this would be horrible for anoyone who doesn't have time to build a new deck the night before, misses the prerelease, etc.

When I booked the dates for the event I checked events for most card games but missed the YGO nationals somehow. I've already looked into it for someone else, it's in another part of Sheffield which is 15 minutes away by bus and then 5 minutes walk so it would be really hard to move between them serio.gif

And I forgot, there's a nearby Premier Inn as well: www.premierinn.com/pti/pTiibsRedirect.do

The first ever Foundations of Power event in Reading was run on the Sunday following a Friday release...thank Fu Leng for Jim Pratt's card assesment and deck building abilities...

Mark

I'd like to announce......

THE MOST BLATANT *BUMP* EVER!!!!!!

gran_risa.gif

Just got my request for the weekend off, I'm definite for going to the tournament! Booking my room at one of the hotels now. Probably going to head up on Friday, and go back on Sunday, in case any other shenanigans are going around outside the event...

Well for the first time in ages there is a UFS tournament that doesn't clash with a prior commitment so I am actually going to get to play. If course I am woefully out of date right now (I know that Feline Spike is good, along with Lord of the Makai and that's about it). Any suggestions as to what I should expect to see?

Wooo, somehow I can post from work today!

@ Son Gopaul, there are many places in Sheffield that sell Supermalt, should you need a weapon when walking the streets back to the hotel : ). I'm happy to run any side events on the Sunday, I'm not sure how may people will be here in Friday but if there any more people turn up I'm sure there will be the obligatory pub crawl, etc.

@ Philosopher, in my opinion the entire format at the moment revolves around Blood Runs True and Feline Spike. The strongest/most popular characters are probably Akuma, Xi Mei and Andrew Olexa. I'm really glad I'm not planning to play since the "Felix Hado" would make me play like an idiot as usual and probably finish in last.... ; )

It was just that one time really....

In any case I figured those cards were pretty important, given that you were offering prizes to people not to play them. I helpfully don't own any of those character cards (not that I would play them anyway), or any spikes so it will be time to come up with something else impressive. Maybe.

Once was enough!!!!!!

All I did was look for a character with the right symbols and ability to fill the deck with meta for them, it's not too hard coming up with a deck, it's just a pity there's no Astaroth legal at the moment. There's a really strong Nagase tho'?
