Addiction Mechanics - Intervals?

The p.155 sidebard on addiction makes no reference to the interval in which the resist addiction test can be made, nor does it provide an interval for the 1 fatigue cost of addiction kicks in. For example, once addicted to Recaf, is there any way to not constantly suffer 1 fatigue?

The description makes it sound like you don't suffer 1 fatigue for the duration of the drug's effect, but that fails to account for substances like alcohol, amasec, recaf, or lho-sticks, where there is no stated duration.

I could easily see these things being on the order of days if not listed.
