capital ships

By neill_ramsey, in Star Wars: The Card Game - Strategy

I love the IN as my all of my favorite scenes in the movies involve the Star Desytoyers. I submit a capital ships deck. I believe there is a lot of room for improvement here so please don't be shy. I am new to the game

I tried a similar deck to this, but I found capital ships too slow, and overkill as well. WIth great cards like Orbital Bombardment and Death from Above paired with Tallon Roll, simple TIE's can get the job done without having to blow one turn's worth of resources for a single card. First turn Devistators can be strong, especially if you are playing Jedi which are traditionally slow in the first few turns. Aside from that, I see capitol ships getting tactics tokens forced on them all too often, taking them out of the game for turns at a time. I know there are some ways around it, but my star destroyer deck didn't have the body count to keep the pressure on while still having a defense enough to not get dismantled durring the light side player's turn.

I ran a similar deck for a while, my problem was that I didn't have enough unit damage on the board. So if I had to do it again, I'd probably splash in Tarkin's set to get a couple of the Elites.

I would swap out 1 Lord Vader's Command for Imperial Command. Motti gives you the ability to pull off any focus tokens that the LS may throw on your ships to stall them out. Also, Motti gives you Orbital Bombardment, an extra boost to objective destruction, and a couple of Heavy Stormtroopers to give you some unit damage.

how does this revision look?

It's your deck, so you should play it some to see how you like it. For me, I love Endor Gambit for the objective (remove a focus from a vehicle is always good) and the ATSTs are great units. So I would drop Vader's command and Motti for x2 Endor Gambit.

Both Capital Ships and Tie Fighters are good deck types. Capital Ships are not slow, it's easy to drop one on turn 1 or 2.

My version of the deck is focused on Star Destroyers, but it has some decent Tie Fighter tech too.

Sith Affiliation

2x Black Squadron Assaul

2x Death and Despair

2x Kuat Reinforcements

2x Deploy the Fleet

2x Endor Gambit

It's got all the good stardestroyers, all of the black squadron Ties, some Talon Rolls and Death From Aboves, good resource acceleration, and is great at winning tie breakers by taking 4 or more objectives.

If you wanted more resources instead of tie fighter tech, you could run Imperial Command instead of Black Squadron Assault, and switch to Navy Affiliation.
