Hidden Kingdoms - new expansion!

I don't understand why the announcement says "maximum legal number of fifty-five player cards." What is that referring to, particularly the "legal" part?

Bump. I can't tell if nobody knows the answer to my question, or if there's an answer out there so painfully obvious that people are avoiding the topic out of embarrassment on my behalf….

I believe what they are referring to is the maximum number of copies that can be legally played (3) of 55 new cards.

Q3 = 3rd Quarter = oct, nov or dec

I'm stupid

july, aug or sept

Wouldn't Q3 be July, Aug, Sept?

I was hoping for Sept since July (and most likely Aug) are out.

I'm a bit confused too, cause financial years in USA counts from the foundation date, but all other must be same as everywhere. Kaine, we need your help here =)

oops!

All you need to know is it's not at GenCon. Cross your fingers for September.

At Gen Con free copies of Game Trade Magazine were given out, and it listed September as the release date

Its 172 cards include four capital cards and the maximum legal number of fifty-five different player cards

Guys, it possibly can be that my math sucks, but when I divide 172 by 4 I have 43, not 55. WTF?

Divide by 3, 3 is the maximum legal number. 168 cards (minus 4 capital cards) divided by 3 is 56.

The 3 additional cards are the mysterious ones and was speculated to be either a) fulcrums or b) a strange card that allows a player to have a maximum of 6 copies in their deck.

I think that b) option is odd, cause the number of cards here will barely let you play skaven/wood_elf only decks.

Fulcrums seems better option for me.

If I had to hazard a guess I would say only 40 cards or less are for each neutral race, plus the capital boards. If it is anything like the core and Ulthuan expansion there were 40 card "decks" that were specific to the race and then a stack of neutral cards that could be fit into any of them, plus a few cards for each existing race.

I wouldn't be surpised if they made only 20-30 of the cards in each deck neutral race specific, instead opting for a larger pile or "Order only" or "Destruction only" neutral cards that can be shared between the two neutral decks for each. I would bet they are aiming for one expansion to be able to create one neutral Order deck and one neutral Destruction deck, thereby giving you a reason to buy additional copies in your playgroup.

One of the pages has a Dwarf Embassy, so we also need to take into account the Tribute cards they are adding to the game.

shaven/wood_elf only decks.

Why would you shave a wood elf?

that's for warpstone mutation style. Bald elves are the ugliest race EVAR. =)

It is already known when will the first spoiler cards?

It better be September. I made the mistake of ordering a few games with this not-yet-released expansion late July. So I have to wait for this one expansion to finally release in order to get all my other goodies. Now if there is any "hoping" then I hope it releases early September like this week or next week.

I made the same mistake with an order containing Forbidden Desert back in February. I just got it 2 weeks ago.

A friend in our group did the same thing when he preordered Hidden Kingdoms with a few other battle packs and Legends. He just ordered something cheap from the site and asked them to include everything but the preorder on this new order. We got it a few days ago. Just a suggestion.

So, is there a release date yet??

So looking forward to this and as my luck would have it, it will probably get released on the last day of the 3rd Q.

I may be the only one chuffed about it, but I am so looking forward to more Wood Elves.

As mentioned on the Winvasion Podcast the release date has been pushed to 4th quarter.

On a brighter note though, both Assault and March are being reprinted. Is that a first?

What does a reprint mean? Never understood this thing. :(

I thought a reprint was when they run out of copies and need to make more.

More importantly does this mean Assault on Ulthuan will be reprinted with 3 of each card?

A reprint is just more copies of what was already released. Unless they announce something different it is always the same format as what was printed before.

Well we're in the 3rd month (last month) of Q4 2013. Not only that it's halfway through the month and it still hasn't been released. Usually, I wouldn't bug too much about the release of an expansion and its misguided "expected by" dates but as I said in my last post of this thread, I have this preorder bought with all my other already-stocked products. This is the only thing holding me back from playing the other 3 games. Summer was pretty much snuffed when I saw "Expected by: Q4 2013" and ordered it in the first week of August. It made me think it would release by the time Q4 started so the fourth quarter tournaments would be game-changing. I guess from now on I should wait to buy any of these expansions when they are reprinted for the first time to ensure that they are in stock.
