Dwarfs and 'ahem' Slaaneshi vices

By valvorik, in WFRP Gamemasters

I pride myself on trivia of the setting etc., but a certain non-PG questions are lights treated in most products. I am not seeking an 'explicit' answer but I am drawing up a Slaaneshi cult honey pot style trap and wondering how susceptible a dwarf is to things like the Dance actions they could have or what other tactic they might use against a dwarf.

Any help or thoughts appreciated.

Rob.

Gold, pure and simple, particularly the red gold that is prized above all others. Maybe very good beer if it could be passed off as dwarfen.

Go for the extremes. If he likes fighting Slaanesh offers him the purest enjoyment of combat or magnificient armors and weapons. If he is interested in his ancestry offer him the chance to communicate with them (and use demons as "ghosts of the pasts" that trick him). If he is grudgy give him an ancient Book of Grudges (quite possibly forged and written in warpstone ink).

Just remember to start small. For any race. Slaanesh knows that he/she is the most powerful of Chaos Gods as he/she can offer anything anyone desires with lust. Few mundane things first. "The first tasting is always free". The lure of chaos is not a lure if it's in your face immidiately. They have to offer something that those to be corrupted actually want. Anything Slaanesh offers hints to the fact that there is more from where it from.

"Here's a twenty-titted demon of tenctales for your enjoyment"-approach makes no sense. Unless the receiver has been under the influence of Slaanesh for an extended period of time and grown tired to "regular companions".

Good suggestions, the situation will actually be cultists improvising in Wurtbad (when travelling PC's stop over on way to Middenheim in Enemy Within, a homegrew encounter), more a wine town than beer one, and they won't be able to get notable gold quickly. But there are Slaaneshi illusion spells of course…., the appearance of a slightly drunk gambler with gold to lose - that could appeal to a dwarf.

This is part of trying to imagine/build an encounter that is more about corruption, insanity, shame and other "hits" than Wounds - appealing to/creating " The Enemy Within ".

The other PC's likely involved are a wastrel noble and a high elf so they're easy (so to speak), it's the dwarf trollslayer who's a tough nut to crack - and I likely would give a "nameless Trollslayer who considers himself dead" a couple of fortune dice bonus to resist most lures - however he has noted he is still a dwarf when it comes to gold.

Thanks again and more thoughts welcome.

Rob

Yes, I'd agree that gold-lust at the sacrifice of his clan or family would be a big one.

Gold for dwarves, sure. A 'controlled' arena or "fight club" might appeal to a Trollslayer specifically, with or without gambling. Drugs are also a possibility. Something innocuous that is reputed to boost the Trollslayer's abilities in battle, which then lead to more or other drugs.

As Slaanesh is all about exceses (more than plain lust), you could suggest your dwarf about duelling, every more dangerous creatures. Or, as you put it, you could make it try the wine (which the dwarf should reject at first, but the thing is that he should try it), and narrate something as the following:" It is the finest wine you´ve tried, it could only have been made for the dwarfish lords, as it had a strong taste as the bugman's x formula, but the fruit aftertaste remind you before you've made your oath. Your family was there, with you, as real as it can get, they even greet you, and ask of what have been of you. But the feeling fades, and your dear ones are no more. You'll like to see them again, as vivd as they were seconds ago".

As you can see, it gets to the point of the dwarf taking the option to continue drinking, to see his (insert reason why he is a slayer!), make him desire to even travel in time, if necessary.

Or you can serve him a pint of rougish beer from one of the cooks, in a witchstone carved jug. That could do the trick.

I liked the engancement drugs approach too

I like the corrupt jug - PC's focus on the wine or ale when it's the jug that it the menace.

Dwarfen Trollslayers are actually easier to corrupt because they have no honour to keep them on the straight and narrow. Drunkenness would be a distinct likelihood. In one of the Gotrek books a Trollslayer has an excessive taste for human whores which he indulges at every opportunity. Plenty of opportunity for Slaanesh.

Oooh, thanks for pointing that out. I was wondering if human women could be attractive to a dwarf - for example some dancers using the Slaaneshi dance card actions.

I'm thinking of "entertainers", the leader offering a dice game with the potential of gold stakes (realistically silver buy in), passing round the wine from Wurtbad - special vintage (from his own "special bottle") while the dancers "entertain" in background (their actions in play). The issue is not "wounds" but how long the whole thing goes on, with the exposure to corruption being greater and greater the longer it does - the corruption exposure starting at 2 (there doesn't seem to be a 1) and going up from there.

Corruption points so gained would be spent against players when Slaanesh doesn't want success (facing his servant in Enemy Within for example).

Perhaps the PCs then become really interested in wild theories about corruption cleansing involving peculiar scholars in Middenheim (if they are present at a certain even they might even lose some corruption, though like the Shallyan blessing for mutation removal - which reduces wound threshold, though I don't allow it as a normal blessing even with that cost, mutation ain't cured that easily).

Well the lost of time is your key there. Roll for intuition, with a couple of misfortunes and challenge due to "enjoyment" and "drunkward" as arguments, and every so often, move a little deeper into the power of slaanesh (with a roll to resist it, but ocult roll, so they don't know what is happening. Maybe you could add some blank rolls to distract them).

They could be there days, but don't realice it until is too late.

i lured our slayer into the slaaneshi cult stuff with great craftmenship. as they dont only desire pure gold, but gold and riches nobody else would have or be able to produce, that is what they love.

also a slayer loves to fight and kill with awesome moves, they could seduce him with some battle training, promising to teach him great battle skills that dont only kill with grace and style but are vicious and deadly at the same time

and alcohol, of course, ANY alcohol (at least for our slayer, who always carries at least 3 bottles of "schnapps" or any other high alcoholic stuff with him)
