Learn to play LCG night March 5th at Gauntlet Comics Brisbane!

By Honest, in Living Card Games

Hey Guys,

This is for my friend Toby who runs Gauntlet Comics and Games (and is an all round good guy). He is looking to start up an LCG community in Brisbane with regular meet ups on a Tuesday night. if you've ever been interested in trying the real good FFG games Game of Thrones, Warhammer Invasion, Star Wars, Netrunner or my favourite Call of Cthulhu now is a good time! I have copied his advertisement below-enjoy!

So we asked you if you wanted to play some Living Card Game's with us (LCG's) and you said YES. We asked if you would prefer a weeknight or a weekend and most of you chose a weeknight.

A big thanks to those who did vote and answer the polls.

So, we are going to kick things off with a Demonstration Night. Ben and I will be showing of Game of Thrones, Netrunner, Star Wars, Call of Cthulhu, Warhammer and Lord of the Rings.

For those still not quite sure what an LCG is or how it compares to a TCG (Trading Card Game), it's quite simple.

A LCG has no rarity. There are no commons or mythics. You purchase a core set (Typically around $54.95) and then every month or so they release a 60 card expansion (Typically around $19.95). These expansions contain a playset of every card (For instance 20 cards with three copies of each).

This means that a deck cannot simply win due to the money spent on it and no one card is enormously unbalanced due to rarity or price. It forces a player to build a deck based on skill and strategy. The good thing is though, if you see a deck that works well that you want to try, you are already going to have the cards needed to build it (or can obtain them cheaply)!

Fantasy Flight Games (The manufacturer and distributor of these games) is pushing into the Organised Play field in a big way this year and along with some league Play and Tournaments are growing quickly.

We will be running our LCG's on a Tuesday night. For those that play Magic on a Tuesday night or wish to still play Magic on a Tuesday night this will NOT effect or detract from your experience in anyway (Ben is pretty talented at doing multiple things at once). We felt though that there was plenty of room for more gaming on a Tuesday night though and LCG's fit that space very nicely.

So come down and have a look, there is no commitment required from anyone (whether it be time or money) and we'll have staff on sight to answer any of your questions and show you how the games work.

We'll be putting more and more of these products on our shelves this week and next, so even if you can't make it down for this official event, chances are we can give you a demonstration at another time, and of course if you want to jump in early we should have plenty of stock on the shelf for purchase.

Exciting Times.
