In the Beta manual (page 28) it says: "Most races also provide some sort of innate ability or bonus. A common racial bonus is an additional career skill."

This means that the skill provided by the races also becames a career skill (if it wasn't already)?

Huh, I hadn't seen that before. It's probably an artifact from an earlier version of the game or a typo. Put it in context: the example it gives (a Rodian beginning the game with a rank in Survival) is not the same as having a career skill, since obviously gaining a rank in a skill doesn't make it a career skill. So I'd read it more like, "A common racial (actually, should be "species"….I find this entire paragraph suspect) bonus is an extra rank in a specific skill.
