Teaching new players

By Rozy, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Hi, I have recently sing up for teaching new players in our town since there are only 4 players right now taht really play the game. So I bought one extra CoreSet and got 3 friends to teach them how to play A Game of Thrones. It was just basic multiplayer play that last long due to a lot of explanations of rules and play. In about 5 hours we were able to play 2 games.

I just wanted to ask some players that have experience in this. What would you suggest to do to keep them play and get more intrested in the game? What would you recommend as a good example of teaching? Or do you have any usefull hints that could help? I am listening to all good arguments.

first game play as if all text boxes were blank. or blank except keywords.

Play to ten power

don't let them pick decks, assign decks (i.e. you take the harder one to play, in the core set probably lanni, and give them the more straight forward decks)

and if they've read the books, talk up the 'nedly' situations when you see them.
