I'd really kill for a cool Star Trek board game. I've never played a Star Trek board game or RPG that I liked. Perhaps it's because while the starship battles are always cool (I miss FASA), playing an actual person in the Star Trek world ends up being boring. I dare you to take this on, FFG!!!
Star Trek
Yeah....and for a spin...make it a game called "Red Shirt" where your goal as a red shirt is to get another member of the away party killed.....
How about a Star Trek 'Disk Wars' game - heh
Okay, now after seeing the new Star Trek movie trailer, I REALLY want a Star Trek game!!

Ditto, I had no further interest in Star trek until I saw the full length trailer for the new movie. Honestly Star Trek was so tired I was glad to see it go. Stargate is becoming a worthier replacement over time and the reimagined Battlestar Galactica has set a whole new tone (One that even the new Stargate series is going to borrow from).
So I was surprised, shocked, and relieved to see that they have decided to "reimagine" Star Trek as well and bring it up to date for a 21st Century audience.
I'm fully sold and would be first to ****** up any FFG Star Trek boardgame to follow the movie...
Who am I kidding? Of course I would buy a Star Trek boardgame. I'd buy a new rpg. I'd buy miniature game (especially if said miniature were to Star Fleet Battles scale so I could dust that one off too).
I'd love to see a Star Trek miniatures-based ship combat game similar to Wings of War. I'd also like a boardgame based on Deep Space Nine - moving characters around the station for political or tactical advantage would be fun.
Realistically, if anything were to happen it would be based on the new film, and since I don't know the plot yet I don't know how a game would go. I always liked the basic structure of Decipher's Star Trek CCG, the idea of assembling the right team of crewmen beam down to a planet, and then having them face unforseen plot twists. A board or card game with a similar structure would be interesting.
A Star Trek game somewhat similar to how Space Alert operates, seems to make the most sense.
If none of you have heard of it, it is highly recommended.
Here's the BGG link:
I think that the new Star Trek movie is good enough to warrant another foray into Trek-licensed games. How about it?
A miniature game similiar to wings of war would be great featuring all the races of the star trek universe !!! Well that are going to be a lot of miniatures.
Or make something completly new with the battles not concentrating on single ships fightig (like wings of war) but large fleets operating in groups ....
Sign me up for a Star Trek game, too. Seeing the new movie has rekindled all the old love I've had for this series. A board game, especially one with characters, exploration, strange civilizations, discovery (tso a player could "boldly go" but playable in a couple of hours, not five years!) and not only star ship battles. West End did some terrific star trek board games years ago, so the precedent is there.
Yeah, a tactical Trek game, like a board game version of Star Fleet Battles would be extremely cool (albeit in the geek sense of the word).
