A New Hope

By Phantomdoodler, in General Discussion

At last - sense has returned to the rpg developers at FFG. I am liking the look of this new rpg. I probably wont run it, because my choice will always by WEG d6 version, and I have a lot of sourcebooks etc. However, what I am most impressed with is the hope of actually making warhammer work. I think the idea of specialized dice, but with a book-based rpg is an absolute winner. So unless ffg is planning on a 4th edition, based on this new game, I am going to convert it anyway. Some of the excellent ideas in this new rpg could make Warhammer really sing:

1. Absolute minimum of tokens

2. More flexible careers, without having to buy expensive expansions.

3. Combining actions, career abilities and talents into just talents, and simplied so you dont need a card for each (although you could have )

4. Same lovely dice as usual

I think I may actually return to warhammer after all.

Ergh… sounds awful. Ok, cut down on the tokens maybe, as the players can probably provide their own, but half of the fun of Warhammer 3rd is the Action cards. And "more flexible careers"? Not sure what that means. The more funky ones that have been released in the expansions tend to be more specialised if anything.
