Retailers carrying the beta?

By rassilon2, in General Discussion

So… apparently I missed out on ordering myself a copy online and now it is supposed to be available from retailers?

Given that the online release was limited, I'm guessing this will be the same from retailers?

Will there be a list of retailers carrying the beta rules?

Thanks!

Doubt you're gonna see a list, Bud! Even if there were a list, you gotta think, 5K copies of the game sold out in what? 48 hours, give or take. There were not too many retailers that got their hands in that cookie jar.

I would suggest a few things here…

First, read the forums and ensure this is the game you're expecting. (I am not assuming you haven't, but best to be aware of what you're getting) Last thing these boards need is another "what? no jedi" ***** fest.

Ok that first step wasn't needed…

Try e-bay, you may pay a bit more for it but… you never know. If you're going to go this route get the app that checks for misspellings of the item, way cheaper when the Seller doesn't know how to spell.

Try "big" gaming stores that ship… Games Plus in Chicago is one of the best (the best in my biased opinion). You're gonna pay for shipping, but it can't be more then what FFG charged us, hell might even be cheaper. Discount if you're military, just an FYI.

Hope it helps,

Just looked at ebay, they are over 100 there. scratch that.

If anybody is near Portland, OR check out Rainy Day Games. They had about 10 copies shelved when I was there yesterday.

ROFL… dude… he's right. This totally works.

Guy in my group nabbed a Saga Edition Copy of Knights of the Old Republic on eBay (first book to go out of print, currently going for about $50 on eBay; has gone as high as $75-150, when the system was heavily played), for only $18. Because the seller didn't know how to classify it, and misspelled three things on the title.

I got the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay core box (90), and the first player box (the one with the rat catcher) both, as a package, for 15.00 because the dude spelled Fantasy: Fantecy.

I know it works! I do it all the time.

We are in the UK and our dealer copies should be with us by the end of the week.

I have confirmation on this. Just called 'em up and bought a copy! Guy said he'd ship it out to FL today!! gran_risa.gif gran_risa.gif gran_risa.gif

Thanks Callidon!

I just called up and ordered myself a copy too!

Glad it worked out for you Rassilon & countrugen!

If/When Rainy Day Games runs out of books, Guardian Games in downtown Portland just got their pile-o beta books in today. AND they are running some demos of it on Thursday and Saturday for the curious-but-unconvinced. Obviously Florida is a bit of a trek lengua.gif , but anyone within scootering distance of Guardian Games should check it out for a bit of try-before-you-buy.

Oh, I don't doubt it! I was just laughing because a) I had no idea there was such an app, and b) I'm just thoroughly tickled by the idea of dumb guys selling valuable things for peanuts because they're, well… dumb. lengua.gif

You can bet that when it comes time for me to sell my KotOR and SotG on eBay, things will be spelled to a tee! gran_risa.gif

Thanks Callidon, I'm a bit closer, Tacoma, WA, but its still a bit of a drive down to Portland for the day. ;) :)

I'm waiting on several of my Local shops to get the book. The problem I have is that FFG deals exclusively with Lion Rampant in Canada and they distribute to everyone, so NO one seems to have it. Very frustrating.

Well, if you can't get a copy shipped from the two game stores Callidon (thanks again!) mentioned OR from CharlieBananas game shop, then try ebay. Prices appear to be slowly slumping back into "reasonable" territory there.

I just wanted to let everyone know that Lone Star Comics in the Dallas/Fort Worth area got one retailer package per store (4 copies) and they have 7 stores now I think. The books came in yesterday and not many have sold aside from the copy I bought and a friend got one from another store. I suspect they will likely sell out by next week given the popularity of the game and the fact a couple of the stores are holding one copy as a store copy for their game rooms. Regardless, if you live in the D/FW area this would be the way to go and I am not sure if they still ship games (their website priority is comics).

Otherwise, I think this has the potential to be a fantastic game and have already grabbed an extra copy for my group (I managed to grab one from FFG before they sold out). I am really looking forward to any and all products in this line. Good luck to everyone in their quest to get this awesome game.

Yeah.. those wouldn't work so well. What with me living in Canada and them being on the other side of the continent. lengua.gif and… Ebay is very pricey. 300 bucks is a no go.

Nope. I have to wait for the Canadian Exclusive distributor to get off their butts and start sending this out to stores.

My FLGS didn't know about the beta and the retailer kits are sold out now, but I'm still curious: What ARE the retailer kits, besides 4 copies of the game?

I spoke to a nice lady at my local gaming store, who told me they were trying to get their hands on some copies. She promised to let me know if they got any, so I guess they didn't manage to. Haven't heard anything. Ah well!

The Retailer kits, from what I saw, are 4 copies of the game, 20 full color double sided character sheets (so the retailer should give you 5 sheets like mine did and they are nice), a poster and a display. So not much more, really.

If you live in the Phoenix metro area, I believe the Game Depot in Tempe still has a couple of copies left. You also get four full color character sheets. Oh and X-Wing arrives in store today.

Yancy

Happy to note that I now have my copy! Now witness the power of this fully armed and operational.. err.. beta.

You can order it from Noble Knight Games. It's where I got mine and, dude, they're KICK ASS to do business with!

Knights Comics & Games in Henderson, KY carries the game and they have (had) a bunch.

The owner has placed many of them on ebay.com/

www.knightscomicsandgames.com

I bought two copies last week.

Hiyas!

The good folk at +1 Gaming in New Orleans (USA) have at least one copy…

Who dat?
