3-player possible?

By edderkoppen, in A Game of Thrones: The Board Game (1st Edition)

Hello people,

Is it possible to play the game with only 3 players? I only have the original game. I recall though, that I once played a 3-player using only Lannister, Baratheon and Tyrell and cutting the board off at the neck. Does anyone have any experience with that, and willing to offer a few guidelines on what to do?

best wishes,

.e

Officially you're supposed to use Stark, Baratheon, and Lannister but no matter what you do you're likely to face a fairly one-sided game unless you do something about the riverlands. So maybe play Stark, Baratheon, and Tyrell? I think that'll just make it difficult for the Tyrells though

The rules say it's possible, but I say the game is only playable with five players (or six, if you posess ACOK).

There's a really nice 4-player map which Umbratus published on BGG.

I think it works fine. A bit problematic to implement on the board, though.

could be that I need to play the game again, but the only difference seems to be castle black can't be entered.

There's a list of the changes in the disccussion beneath the image.
