Stormtrooper Aptitudes

By Thaddux, in Only War Beta

Possibly a dreadful idea, but I've seen a lot of complaints about the ST aptitudes.

How about:

-Take away one of the aptitudes it has already (I would suggest fieldcraft, but you may have your own opinion).

-Allow players to choose (or roll randomly for) another aptitude at character creation (with the obvious exception of Psyker).

This way, each Storm Trooper can become a specialist within a specialisation. Take the weapon skill attribute for a CQB specialist, or Tech for demolitions/Splinter Cell-type-guy.

Just a thought.

First thing that will happen: Everyone will be complaining profusely that the other classes can't do that.

Well of course they can't! Only Imperial Storm Troopers are that precise.

Yeah, that or everyone will play a storm trooper, since you start with primo gear AND can specialise, so can end up stronger than a Heavy, or shootier than a Weap. spec.

Finesse was added because people had a single, fixed image of storm trooper and they wanted that exact image in the game; Super shooty guy!…Of course, there is already a shooty specialty (Weapon Spec) so they had to make more of an elite, do-it-all soldier, which I think they did right, just that it,s not the TT equivalent, therefore, it's bad.
