Raptors Combat Sights

By Kerrahn, in Deathwatch Rules Questions

Just got Honour the Chapter yesterday from DriveThruRPG, and noticed something interesting with the Raptors.

One of their Combat Sights options increases the range of any Pistol its attached to by 10m and Basic weapon by 20m.

So this means you could attach the Sights to a Flamer (even though, fluff-wise, it makes little sense) to get a 40m range on your Flamer, right?

I'd say no, as the various Flamer weapons all have a single fixed range, as opposed to Short, Long, Extreme, and Maximum ranges. RAW, yes, you technically could use it to extend the range of a Flamer, but it makes no sense for a sight to increase how far the pump on the Flamer throws the promethium.

No. The flamer is an area effect, it does not have a range like a normal weapon.

I agree with both ItsUncertainWho and Gaire. They both bring up good logical and RAW reasons why this should not work.
