When bonuses/penalties are applied to a characteristic test (FFG reply)

By Decessor, in Deathwatch Rules Questions

Rule Question:
If a character has bonuses or penalties to a characteristic (as distinct to b/p to a test) and tests on an untrained basic skill are the b/p added before or after the characteristic is halved?

Example:

Brother Marius has a natural agility of 40 and is wearing armour with the "A Fury Like Lightning" history giving him a "+5 bonus to agility" giving him an effective agility of 45. Brother Marius attempts a challenging +0 contortionist test at untrained.

Is Brother Marius halving his total agility or adding the bonuses/penalties after halving his original agility?

FFG Reply:

Hey Decessor,

The bonuses or penalties are added or subtracted after the base score is halved due to being untrained.

Thank you for your question,

Tim

Makes total sense to me. Just like your basic Algebra problem of doing Times & Divide before you Add or Subtract.

Likewise here. I asked the question to try and settle a debate I had on a thread some time back.
