C Grenades Question

By Kry, in Dust Tactics Rules Discussion

Hi guys.

Here is my question...

If I am next to a doorway of a building, and an enemy unit is inside. Can i use my Grenade/Knife attack to "Clear/soften" the enemy unit before actual entry into the building through the doorway? Hence, I am tossing a grenade inside the doorway?

Next grenade question...

Does grenade damage get a damage increase modifier if tossed in and detonated inside a small contained area? Hence concentrating the blast? Or does the defending unit change thier save modifier from hard to soft cover? or lose thier modifier all together?

All in all NO. Did you read the rules? Grenade in this game is not some kind of special weapon, it's just an addon for normal hand to hand combat. You can attack the enemy squad if you are in adjacent square using normal weapons and then hand to hand, do no re-rolls and then move 1, inside the bulding if you have killed enemy squad.

Rules wise, grenades and other C range weapons are a "retaliation" type equipment, so no tossing a grenade to soften up the target, but they could be used after the target has fired on you (and that is done simultaneously by the enemy, if he's so equipped)! Moreover this can only be performed if the squad inside the building is near an exit.

No, the game supports nothing this much detailed. However, grenades and any C range weapon always ignore any cover value.

You can find relevant rules for this on page 14 and 17 of the Revised Rulebook.

You should try "Operation Tannhäuser" to use grenades this way.
