Necromunda must be next!!!!

By vegasmentat, in Only War

Underhivin' scalp takin' for the win.

Climbing the spire literally, politically, or spiritually.

Setting seems the most RPG-like of all 40K environs.

Easy conversion from Pathfinder or D&D in a cool sucked into another dimension lets do something different with our characters session.

No, make it an actual W40k game, instead of Shadowrun...IN SPAAAAACE; I have no desire nor intrest in playing a ganger scum covered in crass and rust in a 'land-locked' Hive City in which I can never exit, and my opponent are all human of a different fraction and the odd mutant/Ork scavenger that pops every now and then.

Necromunda is more suited to the DH corebook with house rules than an IG game with the DH corebook and house rules.

It sounds both likely and like something that would be interesting to play (although I'd be content with a source book that adds a few careers and details the setting).

hmmm it very intersting idea and as a lover of necromunda i would love it and i have to dissagree with the others dark herasy wouldnt work because the career paths are totaly wronge and if it was to be just set in the under hive there sould be alot more adversaries, different wepons from the main rules, also it would reqire some diffenrt rules to dark herasy and also there would be epic beckground and art work.

but realisticaly there are alot of 40Krp's already and with the relise of only war it could be some time before they would relise it and if they did it would be an expansion to dark herasy at the most.

but its a great idea dude and i realy hope they do some time gran_risa.gif .

Make it a death match RPG.

No way out.

The spirit of 1st edition D&D except there is no treasure.

Combined with the survival terror of Call of Cthulhu.

Just a another day breathing sump fouled air.

Scavenge to survive. Survive to scavenge.

Add in the art style from the original Rogue Trader and there it is.

I love necromunda honestly it was one of my favorite TT games and I would probly be one of the first to order it but I couldnt see it being much more than an add on to an exsisting system DH,BC, etc , etc, etc. Not that it couldnt stand as its own game but that they arent going to throw a ton of money at something when they can throw half and have it work jest as well. Sorry for any mis speld words or gramarical errors im doing this from a PS3

Man I wish they'd do a Necromunda game. I'd petition daily to write the Delaque rules! gran_risa.gif

I think the ground swell of popular opinion would be against Necromunda being the next new game if the question was asked "Do you want Necromunda or do you want Space Pixies?" sad but true. Personally I want Space Mushrooms, Orkdom is the coolest, cruelest, most anarchic and therefore funniest place in real space. Orks are so diverse there's lots of scope for a good roleplayer.

Rogue Trader covers everything you could ever need for an Ork game. All da klans, all da oddboyz, and every career you'd need; Freeboota makes a nice Warboss, there's alt ranks for Kommandos and Mekboys, and the new book added Weirdboyz. I honestly can't think of anything else they'd need to publish.

Personally, I think Necromunda would work as some sort of funky DH supplement. I'd much rather see the Tau Empire or Craftworld Eldar. Something other than Imperial humans, please.

I'd rather buy one book. I've never understood the communities space elf fetish, give me Squats! ;)

I would love to see a Necromunda RPG and a redesigned Necromunda miniatures game (the old game was fantastic, but it needed more depth). Hive cities are unimaginably huge, endless in size. The possibilities for stories that could unfold in such a setting are just as endless.

I agree.

Necromunda must be next. I asked about that at the booth at Gen Con.

I agree in not understanding this forum's love for the Eldar. I mean they're neat and all but they're nothing compared to Orks (and I don't care what people say, Orks are quintessentially WarHammer 40k from its earliest roots, heavy metal songs and all). There's a lot more groups I'd like to explore in RPG form before the Eldar, even the Tau because that opens the door for their different brand of politics (One could argue that a game about Tau explorers would be as close to a 40k game of Star Trek as you can get)

That said, I agree that Necromunda would be better suited as just a splatbook of sorts UNLESS it's more than just the gangers. I do think there's interest in playing a game of Imperial citizens on a home world that could allow either for crime sprees or playing the side of the Law. It would essentially be a return of GW's Judge Dredd RPG where you could play both sides of the coin and they each had different tones of gameplay. It could either be about sneaking around, skullduggery, and plotting big crimes while fending off rival gangs, or it could be investigation, pursuit, and enforcing a very harsh form of justice. The game could also feature a very tongue-in-cheek humor that stems from the absolutely rediculous totalitarian society of the Imperium, almost along the lines of a Paranoia style game. I know humor is a big no-no around these parts and everyone wants their game to be super serious and grim but certainly one of the best parts of the WFRP game from which this series gains its heritage from was the soft pokes at its own expense, to show that it didn't take the game's rediculous setting too seriously.

If you were to look in the same vein in that each RPG game has its own unique core mechanic that changes the flavor of the game entirely I would actually like to see a game that specifically revolves around large fleets of the Imperial Navy. Basically make an RPG where it's not measured by your individual charcter, but by the composition of your strike force. Players would have to work together to create complex combat actions and fight large scale galactic wars above beyond those found in Rogue Trader. But that's just me.

As a supplement for Dark Heresy or Only War? Maybe.

As it's own game? Pass, like some of the others I would much rather a fresh Non-Imperium take on the universe.

I was once told (no idea if this was true or not) that GW had seperated Necromunda from 40k as it's own licence. As such FFG might not be able to release a Necromunda game.

Question: Has anyone seen Necromunda mentioned in any FFG products? Or, for that matter, any 40k products recently?

Recently? No. But then again when was the last time you heard of a lot of Specialist Games in GW (Blood Bowl has seemed to transcend boundries though). Necromunda itself isn't mentioned often but hive worlds that are mentioned are often straight rip-offs of Necromunda.

Necromunda is certainly a different property than WarHammer 40k, but it's still within the WarHammer 40k setting, much like how Mordheim is part of the WarHammer Fantasy setting. Legally I'm not sure how FFG handles rights to Specialist Games but they got Blood Bowl so maybe something might happen.

Now, if some FFG staff member is listening, I certainly wouldn't mind some kind of game based on the Dark Future liscence….

And I think Squats are stupid and was glad they were killed off technically in a lot of past wargame editions. Different strokes, different folks.

I can see Necromunda having to go for a Mash-Up on the Career paths, you will have to pick a "House" and a "Type", both will give you Ranked Career Path options, Types will likely be "Granger", "Techie", "Fixer", "Militia" and "Assassin" in the main book with "Scavenger", "Scout" & "Weird" in "Outlands".

Doesn't the Arbites/Ganger Dark Heresy cover almost everything you need? All you need is a few alternate advancement options for each faction and you are done.

Yes & No a DH Scum is your basic Petty Criminal & Thug till they hit the mid ranks, A Necromunda Ganger is part of their Houses Milita, who may or may not sideline in Petty Crime & Thuggery. also the Houses have too much varation to be covered with just one Carrer, Background, Alternatave Path or Eleate Package.

I just can't see Necromunda getting a whole rulebook for itself. I could, however, see it as a supplement for Only War, since the specalties cover most of the different areas that gangers would use, but with rules for the different Houses (each with different regiment rules), Ratskins, Redemptionists, Muties, etc. That wouldn't need all that much in the way of rules though - I could probably throw something together for a Necromunda game in a day or so with just the Only War corebook.

OMG! Please, please, please make a Necromunda card game - either an LCG like Conquest or a normal one like Blood Bowl: Team Manager. I'd buy either in a heartbeat! I was so excited to see the Scum Lord and Hive Scum cards in Relic. Even just a Necromunda expansion for Relic would do the job - with a new, playable "Hive Ganger" character!
