Also if one of my friends get's the dark angels terminator armor thing from first founding, he says he'll keep his armor now, ignore the terminator armor and just take the ability they get with it. Can he do that?

Do you have to pick a sucessor Chapter if we all had made our guys before the rite came out? Can we pick one now if were rank 8?

I read up on more recent blood angel things happening(since I'm the Blood angel) and would the Darkest day(demons and terinids sp?) attacking baal be able to be added into a squads story. Example I leave the squad for a mission and come back after it, either we lose or win depending on how well some of my rolls and fate rolls go.

Can someone have to shields on them at any time? So the dark angel is a chaplin and gets one shield, and he bought an standard shield(the one that is like 25 pro rate). Can he do that? He says he had the chaplin one on and the other is off till he turns it on when the other overloads. Kinda the same question with dilation field(the shield that doubles movement speed for 1d10 rounds), can I turn off my shield with a tech test then turn on my d field? What happens if the shields touch exactly?

If I activate my Dilataion field with a jet pack does that double my speed with the double my agility bonus which becomes base run, then doubles movement, and then the jet pack doubles speed again? Could I activate sprint during this? could I just use jetpack with sprint? So if it all worked it'd be speed X 8

I have a hallariously low Ballasitics skill 37 since I made my guy pure melee, what's a good gun for me? I was thinking lascannon because of the lack of needing high degrees for high damage.

(1) I don't understand the question but it sounds like BS. You're Deathwing. Your whole thing is Terminator armor. Your friend wants to be a Deathwing who doesn't deploy as a Termie, he's not really playing a Deathwing. And the special powers of the Deathwing specialty require Termie armor to be used. So keep the ability with no way to use it...real useful.

(2) Why would you have to pick a successor? You can play one of the original Legions-turned-Chapters like Blood Angels or Ultramarines. Also you don't have to do anything at your table that you don't want to.

(3) The Darkest Hour occurs in 999.M41. Deathwatch is set in 817.M41. It involves a Hive Fleet that isn't even known in the DW setting yet. So involving yourself there completely depends when in history your game is set. I'd say no, it's too big a deal to put in the background and marines don't just go home from the DW to hang out whenever they want. You have Ultramarines who missed the Battle of Macragge being in the Deathwatch, so, there's precedent for having to sit out your chapter's darkest days once you've sworn the Oath. And if you were involved, this would be a mission or even a game in and of itself, not something for a few downtime rolls.

(4) Force fields explicitly don't stack protection. I guess you can requisition 2 pieces of gear with shields and use one if the other overloads.

(6) If you're using hte Deathwatch combat action rules,get a gun with full auto capability for the +20 to BS and fire at close range. Best bet is probably a storm bolter. Or I guess a single-shot like the lascannon, but you're not going to hit much without aiming or sniping from cover, and even then it's not guaranteed.

Alright I still need answers to a few of them. I'll reword them so they are easier to understand.

1. When does "Honor the Chapter" come out exactly? From my understanding it will be around june. What should I expect to be in it?

2. On our Team there are an assult Blood angel, Sanguien Priest(Apothacary blood angel), devestator Imperial Fist, Tech marine Dark angel, Apothacary Dark Angel, and an Tactical ultramarine. Is there any kind of hate between any of these chapters? Like I know Space Wolfs and Dark Angels but I don't know if there is anything wrong with this group.

3. I know for squad mode the leader must start it, so are we allowed to have multiple leaders? We were planning on splitting into a melee squad with the blood angel assult as leader and a ranged squad with the Apothacary Dark angel as leader. Are we allowed to do that? Or is there only allowed to be one leader, no expections?

4. This is the most important question to me. Our gm loves to play around and give us things he calls "Histories" basically there something totally out of the ordinary to add to the game. Well, my history gave me wings, basically since my character, the assult Blood angel wanted to be just like the primarch. I got them from minor Warp exposer. Would that be considered a gene mutation and therefor be punishable by death (since we are suppose to kill mutants and heretics)? Or is that acceptable since the blood angel's primarch had them? Secondly, the gm gave the dark angel apothacary the ability to become demonic for a short time with large bonuses and the ability to use psker stuff. I said that if we EVER saw that it was him that was the demonic form that our characters would instantly try to kill him. The gm said no, because he could explain it and he wouldn't be demon after he came back. The Dark Angel then said if my guy would die because of that, yours would die too because mutation is considered impure. I said back Mutant<<<demonic. Which is right? Would both characters be sentence to death at HQ or are we both fine? Is just one ok? The Dark angel is also squad leader. If we find out (like we litterally just did last night) that he is the demonic thing we keep seeing, do we get insainity for learning this? Courruption? He is the leader.

5. Can you stack speed bonuses? So as an extreme that I want to do, My guy has a base run of 54 (90 agility), if I activate dilition field, it'd raise my agility bonus to 18 making my movement 108, then it doubles movement, making it 216, then I activate sprint doubling that, making it 432, and lastly I use my jetpack to double it again, 864 meters per 5 seconds. There is no rule agienst it in the books so it has lead to me being hallariously fast. With a movement of almost 400 miles per hour I really never have problems getting anywhere. Is there anything to stop this? If not I'm getting that relic jetpack to make me go 600 mph. XD

6. If my friend buys the Dark angel's termination class, deathwing, if he chooses not to wear the armor would he keep the deathwing assult talent?

7. Are you allowed to be a champion, keeper, and more at the same time? So like as an assult I would become a champion then become a keeper too. Am I allowed to do this or is it resricted to one?

How did you get a 90 Agility?

For anything that alters your agility, it should specify if it alters speed also. Generally, agility boosts do not increase speed, only the Unnatural Speed talent does.

You generally don't double then double, then double. Things like this are usueally additive. A x2 becomes a x3, then x4, then x5.

No book to confirm but the sprint talent shouldn't alter a jump packs speed. Moving your legs faster doesn't make a jump pack go faster.

A good rule of thumb: If you are trying to find if the rules say you can't do something, 99.9% of the time, the answer you are looking for is no. So if you are looking to see if you can combine 5 different things so you can rival the Flash, then your first thought should be, "No, I can't."

Another way to look at it:

The rules not saying No , does not mean Yes .

1. No idea when exactly, FFG usually just gives quarters/vague months before they straight up announce a date. To my knowledge, its going to contain info on non-first founding space marine chapters. Given that all the characters you list are first founding chapter members, it would probably be less relavant.

2. I don't think there is any explicit rivalry, but a few angles might be:

Blood Angels vs. Imperial Fists - Rogal Dorn stood by on Earth and let Sanguines die up there (I'll admit I haven't read the Horus Heresy series, so maybe they're OK with it/Dorn was suitably occupied at the time).

Ultramarines vs. Imperial Fists - They weren't very happy about being forced to split after the creation of the Codex Astartes. The only reason they didn't was because the last thing mankind needed was another civil war. Yes, IF are a codex following chapter now but only because the Ultramarines strong armmed them into it; and they weren't really even there at the siege of Terra.

Dark Angels vs. Everyone - Kinda implicit in the whole keeping the Fallen a secret.

Also, do not that rivalry != enemy. This is more not wanting to share honour with/kill stealing. Not backstabbing, not hindering the mission.

3. Actually, I believe anyone can activate squad mode. Its just there can only be one leader, and he selects the oath/determines the size of the cohesion pool. Also, do read the errata, as there are a few things to clarify from the original printing (e.g. any marine can activate their own chapter squad mode abilities. Strict readings of the original printings indicated that only the leaders chapter mode abilities were an option).

I believe it is possible to have two distinctly different groups of players with their own squad mode running at the same time. Note they would pull from the same cohesion pool.

4. The GM is playing fast and loose here. At my table, such things would probably mark you for death. But I also wouldn't flagrantly just hand them to you either. If you can hide them, do so. Normal imperial society would probably just be amazed enough at space marines to not really bothered, but those in the know should be concerned. This is more a question for your GM. It should mark you for death though. But the GM could have the kill team working for a particularly radical inquisitor/have a setting where such things are more permissable.

5. Your base agility is just crazy (probably due to the wings mutation, which is already a stretch). Also, technically speaking, multipliers in this system are additive, not multiplicitive. That is to say, if you have two distinct sources that double a value, then ultimately, the final value is just x3, not x4. For movement, especially when considering sprint, this is a bit stranger though. Also, the jump pack + dialation field is a bit silly. Also given that your character has wings. You shouldn't be using an agility bonus from the wings + a jump pack at the same time. No rule against this, no, but much of the DH/RT/DW/BC system does require a strong dose of common sense.

6. I don't have the book with me. I believe they would, as long as no part of that special rule states that the battle brother is wearing the terminator armour. Once again though, they're being a bad member of the Deathwing if they decide to go this path.

7. Technically, I believe you can, however I am highly surprised you have the XP to burn on multiple advanced specialties. There are other things to spend XP on. There might (don't have the book with me), be a limitation on one per rank. Or that might have to do with questions regarding if the XP spent on an advanced speciality can count towards the attaining the minimum rank to gain said speciality. As above though, I wouldn't do it/would strongly encourage my players not to do it. Its weak RP and reeks of power gaming. If you're going to be a champion, BE a champion. Players shouldn't have to subvert their characters from having a "legitimate" career by having a mish-mash of seemingly counter things. There is no need to be insanely capable, as it is the GM's job to challenge, not mop the floor with the party.

It was more of a what if type of question. I haven't even gotten to champion yet cause I have the exp easy but the reknown is always my issue. He limited us to one advance so I guess he was right.

Mostly luck there. I rolled horrible for the other skills. My only good rolls were ws and strength other than agility. The rest were 32 willpower, 37 ballistics, 40 fellowship, 40 toughness... Just not the best.

One other thing to point out is that sprinting/running is questionably useful. You're going to be hard pressed to find that much straight distance to actually ever need to run, and even if you do, its not going to seriously help you engage close in.

Running right next to an enemy does not lock them in melee with you. An attack must be made first to do so. So all running is going to get you is a defensive bonus, and otherwise shot the hell up as you startle the enemy. Yes, it is crazy that with a dialation field/jump pack, you might be moving a theoretical 27 m as a half action, but this is basically epic level gameplay.

They still use the normal cohesion and the normal limitations apply (an Ulty can't benefit from a Blood Angel squad mode). A player may only sustain and benefit from ONE active sustained ability at any given time. So a single player cannot sustain 2 abilitiies. If benefiting from one sustained he must give up that abilities bonuses in order to benefit from another one, if he were sustaining the first said power it immediately deactivates and its cohesion must be paid again to reactivate. Only the team member who originally activated a sustained ability may sustain it, another brother may NOT 'take over' the ability if the one who called it drops it for another ability. You may activate non-sustained abilities in addition to sustained abilities without penalty. I have all the FFG E-mails to back all this up if you need to see them.

7. According to the rules in Rites of Battle page 99 2nd paragraph under Using Advanced Specialities: "Normally, it is not possible for a character to gain more than one Advanced Specialities." [sic] It does say GMs under certain and extraordinary circumstances may bend this rule. So a GM may allow a player to have, for instance, a Chaplain and Dreadnought speciality. But these should be rare and not mutually exclusive. The training and commitment to become a Deathwatch Keeper would not allow a character to also become a Deathwatch Chaplain. Apply some common sense when allowing this. A Black shield can become any other specialty he would qualify for since a black shield isn't a Second specialty but more-over a chapter replacement. But a player whose commited to being a storied veteran is unlikely to push to become a captain.
