One Foe handlinge multiple marines: How to?

By Kiwamu, in Deathwatch Rules Questions

Combined with counterattack one can even do some damage (I would not allow one on every successful parry, I think)

You already have the groundwork to pull off what my GM did. He had us fight a traitor Black Shield, and he managed to hold a full 6-man kill team off effortlessly. Here's what he had.

1. Lots of extra reaction talents: Wall of Steel, Step Aside, Stalwart Defense, etc. The more blows he can evade the better, and Counter-Attack will let him keep up the pressure.

2. Defenses: Force Fields are the bane of my existence. Bump up that Force Field to 50 and he'll be untouchable in melee. If you want you can give him a Mark of Nurgle to make him shrug off the few hits he does take.

3. Weapons: Powerful melee weapons are good. My GM used a Relic Blade so even guys with Power weapons would think twice about attacking, but Lighting Claws are good too.

4. Pick targets: Give him a Jump Pack or have the fight be in an enclosed area. Then have him attacks the shooty types first, they won't be able to do much against heavy melee, they can't disengage without getting charged again, and allies will have to think twice about shooting him. Anything with a Storm/Heavy Bolter is #1 priority since high ROF weapons are the best counter to Force Fields.

5. Fate Points: If you feel like a jerk, give this dude Touched by the Fates (3). Making him even harder to hit and access to RF (or Sadistic Glee in this case).

Unless I'm misreading the rules, force fields roll to deflect per attack, not per hit. An automatic burst is one attack, against which the field rolls once. So high ROF weapons are functionally the same as single-shot weapons.
