Badass question.

By Dakkon426, in Dust Tactics Rules Discussion

Hypothetical situation: Johnny one-eye is attached to a The Gunners squad, they use 4 UGLs attacking an enemy squad. If Johnny were to become detached (either by choice or by death), after the use of these weapons; assuming that all the members of the Gunners squad are still alive should the Gunners Have any UGL ammo?

This situation has never come up for me but I was wondering what people though in general. I'll probably shoot FFG a mail about tomarrow but untill then let us discuss.

I think that they should still retain the ammo but I can't think of anything to justify either keeping the ammo or forfeiting it.

Yes, the would still have a full stock of UGLs.

"All of the unit’s weapons with limited ammo are considered unlimited , but it can use only up to the limited ammo per activation."

Notice that the rules don't say that Badass replenishes the ammo, but that they are unlimited . So if you have a Badass hero with your squad when firing your UGLs, you're not really spending your allotted amount, which later on gets replenished. It is only at the point where the hero detaches from the squad that the ammunition becomes limited, and at that point it is fully stocked.

I agree with LM. I just treat the UGLs as basically not having a box to fill in while Johnny One Eye is in the squad. These boxes would "magically" reappear if he were to leave the squad.

I really like the Johnny One Eye + Gunners combo for its points. It can be invaluable in rooting out guys sitting in buildings.

I think that's exactly how it should be seen, Jowimus.

And yeah, Gunners seem to be by far the best match for Johnny. The only other options are the Recon Boys (but with only 2 UGLs it doesn't seem like such a boost) or the BBQ Squad (great to have 5 unlimited UGLs, but his Victory MG doesn't seem like a great fit with their range 1 weapons, Priest or Chef work better).

And BTW, am I the only one who feels they've kinda forgotten about limited ammo squad weapons? The Sturmpioniere is the ONLY squad released after the original core set with a limited ammo weapon.

I guess your not count the russian realses then? they look like they willbhave quite acfew limited weapons and commisar sqad has a unit with badass as well.

Yeah, I'm not counting them because we haven't seen them yet. I'm sure several of those squads will have limited ammo weapons.

But my point is that in the original core set we had 6 squads, 5 of which had limited ammo weapons. Since then we've had another 22 squads released and only a SINGLE ONE of those had a limited ammo weapon. To me that represents a pretty significant shift.

No point in giving units limited ammo for the sake of it though, not really going to give UGL's to units with anti-tank weapons or linked MG's or panzerfausts to Zombies and gorilla's etc.

Yeah, I agree. I just find the disparity interesting.

I would understand give the zombies some so of 'Demo Charge' gui%C3%B1o.gif but then again they would probably survive the blast....

Foxtrot could have a couple of UGLs to make it a bit less useless. Red Devils could have a range 1-2 Grenade, since the model even has a grenade on its belt.

Its unfortunate that WYSIWYG, despite being the "golden rule", is broken a fair bit. The worst one I find is the Death Dealers not having UGLs on their card despite the models having the UGLs on their 3 guns for their points cost they should have 3 UGLs I figure.

Basic grenades are unlimited anyway, they come in a 'knife & grenade' stat line.

Not for the Red Devils, they don't.

I know, but if they were to have grenades in their armoury it would be there and not as limited ammo.
