Bonuses to hit Hordes under Mag 30

By bogi_khaosa, in Deathwatch Rules Questions

There's no modifier listed for hitting Hordes below + 30 for Mag 30. What happens when it drops under that point?

I've used +10 or +20, roughly equivalent to the horde size dropping to +0 when the horde was 10 magnitude or less. Multiples of ten make the calculations that much easier on all involved. gui%C3%B1o.gif I may change this though. The campaign I'm playing in sees the GM reduce the modifier to +0 when the magnitude drops below 0. He finds the hordes survive just that bit longer and are more of a challenge. I'm inclined to agree

Then, it's harder to hit a small Horde of Orks than it is to hit a single Ork (Hulking size)...

IRC (probably not) only Nobs are Hulking.

But in other cases, as you are treating the horde as a single creature wouldn't you always apply any size modifer on top of the horde size modifier?

Hmmm good question, I've never seen that discussed/mentioned anywhere. Does anybody have any ideas?

I would definitely add the size modifier of the creatures in the horde. Bigger creatures, bigger targets. I'm 99% it is mentioned in the corebook to do so but I don't have it in front of me right now.

Hordes have the same profile of the creature they are composed of. (page. 359)

If a Horde is made of a creature that is Hulking, then the horede also has hulking. Meaning the horde is +10 to hit from hulking in addition to any size modifiers from its magnitude.
