Quick dodge question

By Stannis Ravensight, in Deathwatch Rules Questions

So generally I haven't worried about this until now, as I bought Leap Up for my previous Tactical Champion as an elite advance. Usually our kill-team uses dodge like this: You roll, succeed agi to dodge, and must leap out of the way, meaning you're on the ground next turn and must make a full action to stand; unless you have leap up. How do you use dodges in your games, a quick side-step or ducking of the torso for melee, or zig-zagging to dodge multiple opponents single-shot fire? Things such as Blast or semi/full Autos I understand we should use the *leap to the side to escape* approach, negating hits by DoS. But I was curious how others use it.

I interpreted Dodge as side-stepping or contorting your body out of the way but still within your space (save for area attacks).

A mixture of the aforementioned, just at my (the GM's) whim.

Generally its usually played as a side-step, or you've ducked your head at the right time.

There is an option in the expanded skills section in the Inquisitor's Handbook that states you can take a -10 dodge test and dodge behind any piece of cover no farther than your agility bonus in meters. Meaning you take the test and jump behind cover, if your dodge succeeds the shot misses, if it fails you get hit, but you have the AP from the cover to help you. In this action you may become prone, I suppose, since you're diving for cover.

Just what I was expecting, thank you Brothers.
