3 Dragon Ante

By master yoda, in WFRP House Rules

Do you think 3 Dragon Ante(from D&D) would fight in this world of warhammer?

Would you have any other suggestions for light side games that could be intermixed into a roleplay session?

What is 3 dragon ante? (I dropped D&D after trying 4e). Is it a game?

jh

I meant fit not fight.

It's a card game in the D & D world. I was thinking about picking it up but was unsure if the flavor would work in the Warhammer world.

I think games like these would be excellent in regards to Gambler characters. I'd like to see more development of it.

EDIT: Changed the name. Also, Three Dragon Ante would work just as well.)

I was just thinking up a way to allow my players to gamble when they have the opportunity. So I made up a game that's played in the central areas of the Empire in taverns and inns called Five Bloody Hands (or blutigen Händen). It's just like poker in that you try to assemble a hand of five cards composed pairs, three of a kind, straights, etc that will trump your opponent' hand.

The PCs participating draw five cards each from the wound deck and play as in basic poker. I'll limit the number of hands played depending on the number of PCs involved (as to not bore the shite outta everyone else), but may drag it out if it's relevant to the story (i.e. the PCs are playing in order to distract an NPC, or playing for something super important). They may discard and replace cards once per turn as in poker.

PCs that are trained in gambling may roll a successful check to discard and replace a number of cards (which doesn't count against their other discard per turn) based on their number of successes, boons, etc. If a PC wished to cheat, they may make a skullduggery check. Success allows them to look at either their opponents hand or at the top three cards of the deck and put them back in any order they wish. Failure results in them getting caught.

When the game is over all cards used in this way are shuffled back together to form the wound deck.

Eh?

Excellent idea! The same could be done I suppose with other decks: insanity, miscast (namely..but disease and mutations could work too). It may also help familiarize players with rules/effects at the same time.

Exactly. I do like the idea of my players getting a sneak peek at some of the more gruesome wound cards...mwahaha!

I've been known to use dice poker as seen in the Witcher games. Its great because pretty much everyone already knows the rules of poker and as a GM I can allow cheating based on checks. It is also VERY fast to play since it just takes 5d6 for each player.
