1 == C?

By player774644, in Dust Tactics Rules Discussion

I am almost 100% sure that I have read somewhere in an official source that weapon range 1 should be considered equal to Close Combat. Is that correct?

Reason I am asking is I'm trying to determine if a unit with a weapon with range 1 that is attacked by a unit with weapon range C, in close combat, can retaliate on it's close combat attacker, if it lacks a C weapon itself but has a 1 weapon.

Example of range 1 weapons are shotgun, flamethrower and 0.45. It seems strange if they should be considered as C and would be able to strike back with them when they are attacked in C with knifes/fists.

Thus, I can only conclude that I have imagined the reading of the info that suggested that 1 == C. Especially since both 1 and C are used on all newly printed unit cards...

No. 1 is not equal to C.

Flamethrowers, shotguns, .45 ACP, dynamite, revolvers, demo charges, mauser, kampfzange are all range 1, which means you can't retalliate with them.

Knife, knife & grenade, kick & punch, circular saw, panzer gloves, blutkreuz, headbutt, rocket punch are all range C, which mean they provoke retallitation and can be used to retalliate.

The only range 1 weapons that should be considered range C are Knife and Knife & Grenade.

Thanks for the carification. Was perhaps the part of the range 1 knifes that got me confused. :P

Yes, when range C was created, they clarified that all Knives and Knife & Grenades should be changed to C. But that's it.

You may also be confused with Charge, where you are allowed to attack with all range 1 or range C weapons after performing two move actions.

...and because of this, FFG will never allow a situation where an Allied armor 2 hero will be able to give the BBQ/Hellboys charge...

To be fair, it did say on seelowe or cyclone that all 1 will be C or something like that. But then they changed it on the new revised coreset.

Also I don't get why the Kampfzange isn't a C. Isn't it a melee attack? Letting it ignore cover makes it all the Luther a bit more fieldable.

Well atm it dosn't and since i realized that i charge and make CC attacks a lot rearer
