Stacking Bonuses - Cover

By venkelos, in Deathwatch Rules Questions

I come to FFG from a number of of RP games where bonuses don't stack, but I have come to find that in FFG games, they often do, which is very nice. To that end, if I was to build an Imperial Fist Techmarine (glad they included that Chapter in Rites of Battle, and DW duty means no yellow power armor gran_risa.gif ), would they be able to use all three of their abilities, TM Improve Cover (DW, p.89), Siege Master (RoB, p.49), and Siegecraft (RoB, p.48), on the same piece(s) of cover? How would the stacking of it all work out?

I rather always liked the idea of an IF Techmarine; it always sort of felt like the Specialty and the Chapter were made for each other, sort of like the Chaos Iron Warriors, who used to be able to just mount servo-arms for fun, in TT, but I would hate it if the two abilities, Improve Cover and Siegecraft, were basically ruled as so similar, you can't do both. If you could, then coolz, and yeah, they really are masters of cover.

Thanks for any answers.

I think they could be combined but it depends on GM and if you want to go sure you need to use the Rules Questions link below. The general rule in 40K RP is addition after multiplication. So you first double cover with Siege Master and then add whatever on top of it. You can go even more silly with the Evaluate skill, btw.

Also you needn't taken a IF Techmarine. A Crimson Fists Techmarine or that of any other IF successor is just as good if not even better due to successor rules silliness. In fact Techmarines is one of the few things that the CF have in relative abundance. (But then again the DW campaign takes place way before Rynn's World incident so scratch that last sentence.)

Who ever would've thought that skill would be close in power to something like dodge happy.gif
