bulkhead sheers and drill + servo arms.

oops, it's been too many days since I read the thread... yeah, OP guy was leaning towards wielding... that is crazy, but there are the other ways to have weapons on the arms.

This thread is getting a little messy, but I'll step in briefly to support Nathiel on a couple of minor points. I'm putting balance aside here, but in the case of a drill, yes, strength should be considered a factor. A drill will penetrate quicker if pressed harder, at least up until a point, dependant on rotary speed, torque etc. I work on oil rigs, and you can bet the weight on bit is considered carefully.

Also, it does seem clear that weapons can be mounted on servo arms/harnesses. Mounted is the operative word here. I'd never argue that a servo arm could use its claws to actually pick up sword, pull a pistols tirgger, or play a piano etc. But there's no reason that, before the mission, or in an appropriate workshop, a weapon shouldn't be bolted/welded and wired into place.

The rules seem to be explicit here. Saying that, I really wouldn't complain if a GM put his foot down in the name of balance. At least when it comes to bulk head shears/ augurs etc.

As far as using a servo arm to wield a weapon, just look at the talent "Machinator array". Just saying.
