Bonus actions from squad mode abilities

By Charmander2, in Deathwatch Rules Questions

In a game a couple weeks ago someone asked about some of the squad mode abilities and if the actions they granted were 'all or nothing.' A perfect example isbolter assault- where it says you can make a charge and shoot your boltgun. I've always interpreted it as 'you can charge and shoot, charge, or shoot' but never required everyone to do all of the listed actions.

What says the collective? How do you guys run it- if the description says 'do this and that' do you read it as in 'in order to do that, you must do this first'?

Good question. I'd probably say you must do it all or not do it. It's probably a technique described in the Codex Astartes.

We do the 'all or nothing' approach. To us, it's just that. A charge move, and a bolter shot. There's other ways to handle the moving and shooting like suppression fire and what-not. I think the situations lie more in the players knowing how games work and being able to lot at RAI better. Plus, I'd say that most of our Kill Team is well versed in a 'Tactical' type of play and discussing at the table.
