My NPC's and other bits.

By Crazy Aido, in WFRP Gamemasters

I really like my NPC's, in very simple terms. They've developed in other games and they have certain interesting character traits that bring the game alive for me and, hopefully, my players. I've created two sheets for my major pair of them. The players will usually be dealing with one or the other, though there's a certain amount of friction between the two. VOSTRACHEN.png

Anjya is, secretly, a worshipper of Khaine, the god of murder. The PC's will notice, as time passes, a string corpses killed in ritualistic fashion following them on their travels. While they might beleive the culprit is one of the many Chaos worshippers in thier midst, Vostrachen is sure to pick up the peices, eventually. He'll pick them up that little bit faster the more the PC's go whinging to him to sort their problems out. (Vostrachen is a previously discussed witch hunter of Verena, scary, but still capable of assisting in his own way.) If the PC's put the facts together first, they can convince Anjya to give up worshipping Khaine, she only did it because he (seemingly) answered her prayers to assist her in murdering her father. If the PC's help her get her revenge, she is much more likely to give up her heathen practice.

Those are cool! I like the "behind the scenes" mechanics of the interaction between the pair and the idea of lending one of those expertise dice to the PCs. I had a similar NPC duo that had a different flavor but had much the same kind of complicated backstory; descriptions like this would help me make sure that they stay active in the PCs' storyline. Great idea!

That's neat. I think I'd do it in a more 'at a glance' format for a GM. Having bonuses to skills could be bulleted instead for example would make it much easier for a gm to reference.

Also, Our watchman just hired himself a mercenary...

And he does the following so far, with more to follow...

hmmm............so im a pet am i nicely done..

Ah here, I wouldn't call you a pet...

Pets do what they're told.

Seriously though my group got attacked by a mercenary a while back and the one with the bloody big sword started wailing on the watchman...

Big.

Mistake.

The watchman is the one with Saga of Grungni. He's the one with dwarven steel armour. He's the one with sheild wall. He's the one the burgher, (now dead) stands riiiight next to and uses improved gaurded position.

So three turns and five expertise dice later, this guy still hasn't laid a mark on the dwarf. At which point his employer's leg comes off at the knee and he buckles to his knees and start crying for his mammy.

The watchman takes pity on him and pays him a few pennies to follow him around, I let his player sacrifice his career ability (which he wasn't mad about to start with) to keep him. Job done, as it were.
