Satisfying PC kill in EfaE

By Emirikol, in WFRP Gamemasters

During the beastman attack, the Assassin/Ranald priest snuck down to Aschauffenberg's to break into his safe..and was eaten by beastmen.

WHile climbing the ladder, the Charlatan/Commoner suffered fatigue while fighting the demon and went unconscious..and fell to the ground..and was ALMOST eaten. He suffers from the Concussion critical wound right now.

Group now consists of:

Charlatan/Commoner
Charlatan/Grey Wiz
Scout
Servant
<new> Smuggler, 2nd career will be???

I'm not big on tracking fatigue and stress (and certainly not on every roll) but when it counts it's always great to see that it actually counts! It's very warhammerish to characters just to pass out and get eaten. Not very heroic, but such is the way of Warhammer.

How did player react? Accept it as natural to setting etc?

I've only had one fataility in 40 sessions, feeling I need to "up my game", though have 1 insanity still going, a sprinkling of corruption points (if they don't start getting burned off we have a mutation coming) as it's not all about death.

It was actually a quite-heroic situation.

The commoner had gone up to the roof to deal with the demon (I had the entire works occur there without anything happening at all in the basement). He was the only person taking on the weakened demon all by himself (the scout had already taken out gregor, et al..and I had the others get sucked into the painting as their reward for unleashing the daemon).

The commoner, weakened already from an earlier fight, was about to be finished off by the daemon, but the scout got a lucky sniper shot off and took it out before he could rend the unconscious commoner limb from limb.

The beastmen fled, dragging Lord Aschaffenberg with them, again dropped him because of a magic dart flung by the charlatan/grey wiz..saving them that.

The poor assassin had his bones "skrinded" and flesh rended, leaving Aschaffenberg's safe alone without me having to deal with "too much party loot." ;)
