Doc, I'm familiar with that wonderful site - it's handy for calculating distances, but I don't see where it gives a speed for boat travel. it gives time of travel assuming a given speed but no basis for using different assumptions based on mode of travel - am I missing something?

I know the first edidtion gave a trading vessel a speed of 20 miles/day on a broad slow river like Reik from Altdorf to Marienberg - though that seems a little slow to me.

Forges of Nuln (p.46) says the luxury liner Emperor Wilhelm sails from Altdorf to Nuln in approximately five days, travelling night and day.

Thanks. I managed to dig out my Warpstone 22 and its handy table of travel times in between Empire cities by barge/sailing boat as well as foot etc.

Have a look at the 'Trade and Smuggling in the Reikland' article in Liber Fanatica 8, as that has got distances travelled by boat in there.

Thanks, with allowances for going up river, that seems to agree with the table from Warpstone for sailing vessel - riverboat, though it makes barges faster than that table.
