LOS question

By PaulofCthulhu2, in Dust Tactics Rules Discussion

Hello everyone,

This came up during a game today. Does the unit (spotter) inside the building have line of sight to the mech behind the corner? I asked this on the DT Facebook page and there were quite a few opinions. I realize that the tank trap isn't important as far as LOS goes, but how do the corner and the doorway effect this. If there is LOS, why? If there isn't why?

Thanks,

Paul

He does not have line of sight.

Even if that building weren't there, the spotter still wouldn't have LOS. You can't connect the dots between him and the tank, the terrain square blocks the way. When you add the building, it becomes even more impossible, cause the small entrance narrows the field of view even more.

Look at the picture below, the blue line connecting the spotter and the tank is interrupted by both the building entrance and the terrain square. The green line is the widest field of view the spotter has, the green squares are the ones he can see.

Nice work loopy, and the answer is spot on.

Awesome, thanks all!

I'll make sure the string is available Saturday!

We use a laser level for LOS work great! no more argument about LOS just shoot a laser from dot to dot!

Nice idea, we do the old school version and use a string...

I like the elastic string, so you can stretch it.

Also useful for popping your opponent on the arm.
