Tying the pieces together

By master yoda, in WFRP Gamemasters

I am in need of some help. I have a party of 3: A bright order apprentice, a grave robber and a wood elf.

I will be running a couple of published adventures and connecting them into a grand adventure: Gathering storm, Horror of Hugendal, Crimson rain and possibly Witch’s song.

I know I could probably write my own adventure but I do not have the time. I have all the expansions plus big box adventures, meaning all the adventures. So if there is a better way to implement the personal stories I’ll take ideas. We are running the Winds of change adventure right now and have only ran A Day Late before it.

My idea is to have each character resolve a personal story during this process. Here is a small synopsis of each character with my overall story following:

Bright wizard is young and just accepted into the order with a noble background and a Reiksgaurd Preceptor as his father. A few years earlier he was in love. She ended up being killed. She also urged him to join the colleges. My idea is to have the love interest be a witch secretly with a witchhunter killing her. The wizard thinks it was an elf though. As of right now I’m giving him “dreams” of the past which will reveal some things that he thought was true but are not. Possibly going as far as letting him believe his father was involved(either to save her or not). Which will most likely climax at ‘Witch’s Song’ and Krieger being the hunter that killed her or having an Elf named Talak be the killer.

The grave robber had a brother that just died from a disease. He left his brother before his final breath. Not knowing he is still alive by Nurgle’s doing (or the elf, Talak). His brother will enter at the Carnival in the Horror of Hugendal as Nikaus Treuer character. He will die and his last breathes will reveal an Elf was in league with the plot. Which leads the robber towards regret and bent on revenge possibly.

The wood elf was sent from Athel Loren because of a vision from the wise ones. The vision is unkown at this time. Also he is the hardest story to think of at this time. I had thoughts of the main over arching plot being part of his vision.

What I’m thinking about doing next is having Vaerun( merchant NPC), from a day late adventure, seek them out in Altdorf for the merchant’s guild to find a merchant. That will lead them to the Gathering Storm adventure. Vaerun is considered a friend. Behind the scenes he is the main Bad Guy. A dark Elf, hiding as a High elf Merchant. His real name is Talak(possible if I want to connect the stories even more). He is prepping the PC’s for the final test in Crimson Rain to be his Champion. Vaerun has been using Slaanesh to manipulate Nurgle, Tzeentch and Korne in helping his cause.

I would secretly like the wood elf to be on the lookout for an item that Vaerun needs collected, in Gathering Storm or Horror of Hugendal. So far I have only came up with the Black pendant in Gathering Storm. But I’m unsure of how to connect that with an elf(dark) item and the vision. I was also thinking of why these items. The spear being found is easy. It’s the last piece giving him his commander with the power of Khorne. But the other I’m unsure of.

I know this is very vague but I’m just trying to put together some ideas. I’m brand new to WHFRP. I do not know a lot of the fluff. Any ideas will be helpful. If the plot sounds too corny please tell me.

Thank you for the link. I was unsure to go the " Dark Elf" god direction using Khaine. This is the groups first taste of Warhammer and was thinking it might be too much if I add several layers of religion. I am using the Wood Elf's gods. I notice dark elfs are followers of Slaanesh, that's why I was leaning that way. Maybe its to much to have a slaanesh, through Vaerun, as manipulating the other chaos gods to get power.

Not all the adventures have to truly connect. Horror would basically be in their to tie the grave robber story. Possible a warpstone could be found in this adventure that Vaerun needs. Dark elf's use warpstones correct?

I like the climatic ending of Crimson Rain, but maybe I should drop that one and climax the stories in Witch's Song. My original idea had the wizards story climax and the grave robber finding the Elf(Vaerun). The Elf(Vaerun) would escape for one final showdown right after Crimson Rain's ending. The wood elf is the hardest to implement because I really don't have anything for him except a " vision". Also if Vaerun gets a warpstone and or the Pendant used in Gathering Storm, how can I twist these items to fit into a plot that a dark elf would use.
