Tyrant's due pod cast Black crusade Q&A! And a chance to win a copy of Black crusade

I would like to know about the rule changes to combat. Do both full-auto and semi-auto work as described in broken chains? What about accurate weapons? Any new combat actions?

I'd also like to +1 the question about advancements and how they work.

Most of all though, I'd like to know the rules for converting dark heresy acolytes into black crusade.

Yep, they work just as in the demo.

Accurate weapons are the same as in previous books.

Swift Attack and Lightning Attack act just as semi/full auto do now, but you still need to buy the talents to be able to do them.

My question - is my name (Jordan Millward) in the front of the book? I've not got a copy of my own, so I've not had a chance to check! lengua.gif

So hyped to have been able to help work on a core rulebook!

because answering this on the show would be odd. No it is not in the front... It is however on page 396!

Yea, there's not normally space in the front credits for the playtesters - still, woot! ^_^

Being allowed to work with the devs on Black Crusade was amazing - I just hope the suggestions I made, and my feedback to the devs, has helped them to make a better game that you will all enjoy! gran_risa.gif

Seriously though, once I have my hands on the book, I entirely plan to use the updated 40k RPG system in Black Crusade for all my 40k games - That'll be my "core rulebook", as it were.

Also, did they happen to include a useful way to play Xenos characters?

Just wait till you hear the load we were fed at gencon about that. Ha i expect Johnny will go on a rant.

No, the rules only cover Chaos Space Marines and Humans - no information on xenos PCs currently.

I'm not asking a question, but I really have to say that the Schwarzenegger bit in your Tyrant's Due podcast had me in stitches. I had to turn it off at one point as I was on train going home from work and couldn't hold my laughter in. Funny stuff. I do hope Mr. Schwarzenegger is not really dead, though, and will make more appearances.

I was busy going into other stuff at the Con... so what was given? I've not heard of this...

Another question I just thought of: How hard would it be to use the classless advancement in other 40k rpg's?

At a glance... the downside it is still very much tied to your god. that said, I -think- it could work by just having everything cost what it would for a Chaos Unaligned sort.

Is this game really a introduction to 2.0 version of rules for other 3 major games?

How do the new rules feel? Better or worse compared to the ones in DH, RT, DW?

Because my actual question about how burning fate points to survive works now with the new infamy characterisitc, has already been answered on the forum, I want to ask two simple questions.
How many and what character archetypes are there in Black Crusade? And can a Chaos Space Marine choose his legion and from which ones?
Not really creative, but the most things have already been asked or answered and I am interested in this.

Only 8, four for Marines, four for humans. You've seen them all except Chosen (Marine "Champion" sort) and Apostate, I believe.

And no, nothing on choosing your legion, though there was mention in it that legion could dictate some things - but no rules. So HOPEFULLY in a soon to be released sourcebook.

What does BC mean For PVP in the 40k RPG scene.

Thanks for sharing. :) Well with the new open advancement system the absence of legions shouldn't be such a great problem or not? Hm so only four archetypes for each race. That should be Renegade, Heretek, Psyker and Apostate for humans. So nothing new. But for Chaos Space Marines it should be Forsaken, Sorcerer, Chosen and one unknown archetype. Wonder what it is? And how excactly does the Renegade differ from the Apostate?

Maybe a "extensive" question, but how expensive are the talents and skills? I mean, in Dark heresy skills in general costs 100 exp, in Rogue Trader it's 100 on the first rank, and 200 on the other. And in Deathwaych it was higher then that, with most skills costing several hundred exp.

So, in a general sense, how expensive is it to upgrade your character in terms of skills, talents and characteristics?

Talents are divided into Tiers 1, 2, and 3, in addition to being aligned with the Chaos Gods (or unaligned). Assuming you're unaligned, the talents cost 250, 500, and 750exp respectively. (Example Tier 1: Iron Jaw, Jaded, Ambidextrous. Tier 2: Rapid Reaction, Exotic Weapon Training, Swift Attack. Tier 3: Psy Rating, Blademaster, Lightning Attack).

Skills, again assuming no alignment, cost 200exp to be "known," 350 to be "trained" (+10), 500 to be "experience" (+20) and 750 to be "veteran" (+30). Interesting to note is that characters can make skill tests untrained at a -20 penalty - with some exceptions. Can't attempt things that you couldn't attempt untrained, so not all heretics will be able to roll Forbidden Lore: Daemonology and what have you without taking the appropriate skill.

Characteristics are, again assuming no alignment, follow this progression: 250exp, 500exp 750exp, 1,000exp. This is true for all stats unless you become aligned with a Chaos God.

My Mistake. It's Champion, not Chosen.

And actually, the difference between Champion and Chosen is the same as the difference Human Side between Apostate and Renegade.

In each case (Champion and Apostate), the archetype is specialized in social and leadership as opposed to the others (Chosen, Renegade) which are more focused on Strength At Arms.

glad some one else enjoyed it, the first few episodes have been more locally geared so i am sure some of our stuff flys over most people heads, but as johhny says "i don't think people listen to us for hard core tactics" This episode will be a bit more serious though. As you can tell by our name we do love the universe and we are avid role players. I swear though i couldn't even edit it, it was like 3 am and i am sitting in the hotel room cracking up as i was listening to it.

@Dulahan I gota save the bulk of that for tomorrow but i really hope it was just some guy who was clueless because his answer was totally ignorant of the settin

Also I am round up questions now, doing my best to credit every one that asked similar questions. We'll announce the winner at the end of the segment, though I suspect Black crusade is going to be a HUGE if not all the show. Once the winner is announced we'll also toss out an email address for them to contact us with personal info. I'll be confirming the validity of it through having them post here as there doesn’t appear to be a PM function :( ! (No shenanigans!).

So what exactly are we doing!?
As it stands we are breaking down each segment of the book and talking about it, “briefly” And by briefly I mean likely going to turn into a 2 hour show. We won't be giving out to much information out of respect for FFG, but defiantly more then you know now and defiantly enough to make you happy. Cause hey I can't wait to talk about it!

It should pop up around Sunday on the site, unless It goes extremely smooth and dosn't take much editing( AHAHA you should hear some of the stuff i've had to cut) then it will appear a few hours after its done recording sat. It takes a while to covert the files to Mp3's plus I turn them into wav's first and run them through a sound leveler. I'll post here to let folks know when its up.

My question then (because 1) I would like to know your opinion; and 2) I don't have a copy of the book yet, and it'd save me buying one if I won the competition lengua.gif ):

Which of the Antagonists do you think is the most awesome? Given there are Necrons, daemonhosts, Greater Daemons and all sorts, there are a lot of sweet NPCs to chose from.

You made it just in time!, crammed you in i do believe a drawning of names from a hat is in order!

Edit: Grr had it posted but huge audio problem stupid audacity! Fixing it now nothing like spending 2 hours editing leveling sounds to have the auido splice together into an immposable to understand monster que the technical difficulty music.

Show is fixed and back up on the site. Sadly i lost the editing so there will be some times of page shuffling and dead space. I am just to tired to do it all over again! However the sound mingling is fixed so you won't here four of us talking at once :)
Please note the disclaimer at start of show, It's not kid friendly and i wouldn't play it out loud at work!
Nearly 2 hours of pure black crusade talk, so I would say its a pretty hefty review of the book. Please feel free to leave comments on the site, editing comments aside! Would love to hear from people and not bots trying to pimp there "enhancementt" products

That being said Congratulations to the Winner of the book you can find out at the end of the QnA section. Time stamps are up on the site for those of you who are impatient!
