What are your rules for intoxication?

Anybody got any good intoxication rules? # drinks equal to toughness?

jh

I think this is covered in blackfire pass, not actually had time to read it properly yet but there is intoxicated condition cards and action cards that require you to be drunk so id assume its in there...

Then again assumption is the mother and all...Will check when i get home.

Most of the time it's really inconsequential, so I just ask, "Are you getting drunk?"

If it matters for some reason (like they have to keep up with someone, but also need to be sober), I ad-lib a toughness check based on the alcohol.

9/10 times, though, rolling for it just seems silly.

I don't have any drinking game etc. rules, I do have a "location card" based rule that when in taverns, tap rooms, the public area of coaching house " companions of the cup " is in effect, by sharing a drink you can gain a fortune die on social action but on Chaos Star become intoxicated.

The Gathering Storm has that basic idea. I've expanded on it for some extra fun. I have a Hammered condition card as well if you're interested. I haven't explored the alcohol poisoning rule yet, but figure there should be something there since it is a danger. I also am debating rules requiring Discipline checks to stop drinking after you're Intoxicated (since loss of good judgement is a hallmark of being drunk).

Enjoy responsibly!

Waxfire's Intoxication House Rules

Characters may drink a number of drinks equal to their Toughness before they are required to make intoxication checks. After that, they must make an Easy (1d) Resilience check, increasing in challenge level by one for each additional drink thereafter. The first failed check results in the Intoxicated condition. The second failed check results in the Hammered condition, which replaces the Intoxicated condition. The third failed check results in unconsciousness.

Buzzed : There is a reason people drink, and that’s because it’s an effective social lubricant. As such, for every two drinks consumed, a character receives a temporary fortune die bonus applicable to one social check. This bonus is not cumulative and expires once he falls unconscious or sobers up.

Intoxication : Characters who are Intoxicated add two misfortune dice and one fortune die to all checks. If the character stops drinking, this condition lasts a number of hours equal to the total number of drinks consumed, divided by two (rounded up).

Hammered : Characters who are Hammered add a Challenge die to all checks. If the character stops drinking once hammered, this condition lasts a number of hours equal to the total number of drinks consumed. Events that occur while hammered require a Hard (3d) Intelligence check to remember later.

Unconsciousness : If a character falls unconscious from drinking, they are in a deep sleep for a number of hours equal to double the number of drinks consumed. The character does not recover fatigue loss or wounds from this rest. If roused (requiring an Average (2d) First Aid check), the character behaves as if Hammered for the remainder of the time they would have been unconscious.

Alcohol Poisoning : If a character manages to stay conscious and consume more drinks than double their Vigor, they suffer acute alcohol poisoning and must make a Hard (3d) Resilience check or die within their Vigor in minutes unless an Average (2d) First Aid check is made to revive them and help them.

Hangover : If a character becomes Hammered or falls unconscious from drinking, he suffers a misfortune die from the hang over for the next day until a full night’s (proper) rest.

Jackdays is creating rules for alcohol that could be used in all versions of WFRP. I believe it's quite nearly finished but can't be sure.

Rules are coming... slowly, but coming...

The actual rules for drinking are very similar to Waxfire rules. Tryin to keep it simple. But there will be huge amount of alcohol information coming also with those rules.
