Sniper and Spotters

By player359820, in Dust Tactics Rules Discussion

Can you attach a sniper or a spotter to any unit you wish to attach him to? I notice that on page 18 of the Dust Tactics Rule Book, under SNIPER, it states that when the Sniper is part of a squad, he is the only figure who can choose his target, the other figures attack as normal. Does this mean you can attach him to another squad? Since he is always found with a spotter, would the new squad benefit from the spotters abilities? I would think NO all around, but would like to hear the interpretations of others.

It would be cool if you could use 2 sniper teams as one unit, or even 3 or 4 snipers and a spotter. This would be a pretty nasty unit, if it could keep its cover abilities too.

It also states that a spotter is always attached to a sniper or heavy weapons squad. Currently he is either with a Sniper or a Observer squad. Can you attach a spotter to a heavy weapons squad?

I am sure I am opening myself up to some form of sarcastic cowardly rant, but whatever. I consider the source...

No, there are no rules that allow squads to join another and the sniper is already part of a squad, be it just 2 men.

Right now there isn't a spotter+heavy weapons unit. But if you notice there are several new units that are structured differently from existing range, making it possible to carry a different load out. There will probably be spotter+(another unit combo) in the future.

Yup, I forsee infantry heavy weapon teams, possibly 3 man tripod HMG, mortar and maybe heavy laser etc. I've already got some with me Tamiya armour 1 infantry :)

are those Tamiya 1/48 models, and how does the scale compare?

They fit in pretty good, the weapons are realistically thin though and one set of helmets are smaller than the other, but height and build wise they are good, but a little thinner as they aren't wearing arctic gear.

Also they aren't wearing flak jacket body armor.
