The Overlord and the Hero's had an interesting discussion today. General quest (non RTL or SOB).

One of the hero's had Appraiser as a skill. The hero opened a chest and received a treasure + 1 treasure for the appraiser skill. The Overlord played a card which allowed him to replace a treasure with a Dark Relic.

Does the Hero have to accept the Dark Relic, or can they use their appraiser ability to throw away the Dark Relic and choose to keep the remaining treasure item?

Dark Relic triggers and is playable when the hero receives a treasure card.

Appraiser triggers when the hero draws a treasure card.

So the OL should restrain his trigger finger until the Appraiser has selected a card and returned the other to the deck - no discussion left.
